My thinking is that they are going to move to another location. It's pretty popular especially with the local Middle Eastern population.

As a member of that "population," and a member of one the first families of said "population" to arrive in Austin over 120 years ago - I can say that you are incorrect in your assessment of that establishment.

How about Tarbouch on Oltorf? I like that place.

And Kabobzi on Burnet Rd.

I like it. It'll complement the Hanover tower under construction. It's almost a mirror image of that tower with a few minor differences. This 80-82 East has black exterior outlining at the top with white linings elsewhere whereas Hanover has white outlining at the top and grey linings elsewhere. I think they're both around the same height. I like it even though I generally don't like blue buildings. But this one is nice and sleek, just like both of the proposed Hanover towers in downtown Austin.

Hanover

80-82 East

Man, this one came outta nowhere. I'm glad something's replacing that eyesore though.

Now if only they would fix the eyesore that is that Homewood Suites parking garage.

That lobby would look so nice against a sunken 35 with a cap park.

It can be anything, so long as it looks like this:

35 south of Cesar Chavez will not be sunken - unless they decide to replace the LBL bridge with a tunnel.

Didn’t the design have the cap extending just a bit from Cesar Chavez south? Enough perhaps to abut the corner of this lot.

This is an awesome new development! When is it expected to break ground?

Two years from the time of the "announcement" would be a good rule of thumb for projects like this. A little sooner than that for the more prolific national developers.

There is no actual design yet, but the DAA and ULI have a lot of experts in town next week to try and convince TXDOT to do it right. But, even if the main lanes go under Cesar Chavez as the southbound lanes do today, they come up to surface right in front of this property as they approach the bridge.

The site plan was filed. It's referred to as "The East Tower." I first thought this might be one of the Railyard Condo towers, but this wiill do.

No major news, but there is a new name: 84 East. Here's the website:
