They don't even look close to having the sections they are working on done, especially McKinley/Central. 5th/Washington looks close to being ready, but there's not even any concrete poured yet at McKinley and there is still mass construction equipment on the line.
I would interpret the February 13-26 timeline to mean that 30-minute headways would continue until midnight on March 26 with normal service resuming the morning of March 27. That gives the constructions crews today and tomorrow to finish the work, or at least make enough progress to eliminate the need for single-tracking. It'll be interesting to see if they can sprint through it, or if the window will have to be extended.

A little confusing I guess. I assumed that it would be 1 track operation Feb 13-26 to construct the turnaround connections on the northbound track, then resume 2 track operation until March 13th and then single track operation again while they construct the turnaround connection on the southbound track until the 26th.

While I was typing this reply, I just realized that today is only the 25th. For some reason, I thought yesterday was the 25th. So they have 1 more day to finish up. I also forgot they started a day or 2 late because of weather, so that may impact the timeframe.

Not that this is all a big deal. It's a 1 month interruption at most. I'm just a construction nerd and I like to know how these things work

Sorry, I got confused about dates in my earlier reply. I meant to say I interpreted the February 13-26 time frame to mean the first single-tracking period would end at midnight February 26. Single tracking would then begin again March 13.

Okay. I just got PM from Valley Metro on Facebook.

They says that they will resume normal operations on Saturday. Double tracks again.

Quote:
The schedule goes through the 26, so on Saturday the 27th light rail will be back to 15 min schedule Monday-Saturday and 20 minutes on Sunday.
The construction is completed. Still have more things to do.

I passed by Central and McKinley this morning and paused for a few minute to watch the work. It didn't look at all complete yet, but if they work fast all day, I could see it being done by end of day.

Highway News,

North-South Connection Highway tier 2 study funded.

I think this is actually a useful connection for Florence/Coolidge and the state highway network.

It seems like something that would fit right in with Superstition Vistas if that area is eventually developed.

Unsure. I wouldn't be surprised to see a lot of the land annexed into existing cities and towns. Maybe Florence will be the next Buckeye.

The bulk of Superstition Vistas is actually within AJ's planning area.. Will be more sprawl, but an absolute game changer for AJ.

Recently took 5th Ave between McDowell and Roosevelt, have to say the new bike lane is impressive. Buffered at some points, it’s highly visible and looks much like what something called the ‘Sonoran Bikeway’ should.

I just rode it today. I agree that it looks great. I hope it's well maintained over the years with a fresh coat of paint as needed and any broken candlesticks replaced promptly.

I’m glad the vehicles have arrived, but I’m still wondering when we’re going to hear the plans in terms of hours of service, frequency of service, and fare structure. These operational details will play a major role in determining the streetcar’s success.
