"tower" isn't describing what the crane is building... it's the type of crane itself.

I don't really consider these 4-8 story projects to be "tower cranes."
"tower Crane" is literally a type of crane. A tower Crane does not mean tall (but it typically does)

Most projects over 4 stories require a tower crane.

Also this one wont be that short. At 7 floors, it will be nearly as high as Wexford or Creighton's tower cranes.

Pics are from May 23! Not much has changed since the 13th.

IGNORE THE CHAINLINK FENCE. I swear I'm a professional.

Also, really looking forward to seeing how the rest of this Paseo turns out for The Filmore.

Great pics!

Too bad they didn‘t think of the "paseo" concept when building that other complex along 7th Avenue. It‘s oppressively massive and needs to be broken up, would have been a great bike corridor. A missed opportunity.

The Fillmore, on the other hand, should be a great addition to downtown and a key part of activating that part of the central city.

Downtown development is deceiving from a 4 mile radius

All this new development is somewhat DECEIVING
BECAUSE when you look at downtown from say SKY HARBOR,
It doesnt look like anything has changed because all the new highrises ( with the link being the exception) are too dam short.
Looking at DTWN from even the I-10/I-17 interchange, doesnt look like it has changed much. For example, the SKY PHOENIX is not going to stick out past
PHOENIX CITY HALL, it will just simply blend in with the existing height of it.

I don't agree with that statement at all.. Nearly everything is clearly seen from the skyharbor flight path.

Block 23, Stewart, Link, Colliers, Derby, etc. Go even farther back into this build cycle, it's also all visible: Luhrs Marriott, Portland on the Park etc

Sure, we don't have anything that's 'the new tallest'.. but once again, I'll take density over a new tallest ANY DAY!

That's what I was going to ask. I think he might mean X Phoenix which I think sticks out like a thumb when coming in from I-10 West.

I see drastic differences when viewing DT PHX than when compared 5+ years ago. I just think things take on a different perspective when viewed from a plane. For example, my ex-girlfriend flew to Vegas from Cincinnati once. They went right over the Grand Canyon and the passengers didn't even know it until the pilot told them over the intercom they were over it. She said it just looked like a hole in the ground.

Height changes perception. But from the ground, definitely noticeable changes in the skyline.

Yeah I dont think its that its too short I think that its all on the north side of town plus most of the buildings are only a few floors tall just wait until the fall and winter when all the towers will be topping out.

Photos of progress on The Fillmore from 12/9. It appears to be partially topped out, on maybe 30% of the structure. Sorry for the picture quality.

No problem on the picture quality, it's great seeing these come to form. I think we all know what plywood looks like at this point.

Fillmore is coming out pretty good and more expansive than I thought it would be. It's taking up a huge amount of space. I remember when I actually would come to this empty lot to take pics of the skyline. Not that it's a bad thing I won't be able to do that anymore.

Morning Walk - 9/19

I went for a long walk this morning and snapped a whole bunch of pictures of downtown. Enjoy!

thanks. just excited to get that huge lot built on. seems like they would clean that lot up(at least get rid of fencing, etc,) so it looks better to their prospective tenants at the fillmore.
