1016 Canal in the early 1900s -> 2016 -> TODAY!

Recently, our team completed the incredible transformation of this early 20th century building situated prominently on Canal St between S Rampart St and Roosevelt Way.

In 2016, a six-alarm fire gutted the building leaving only the historic Italiente-style facade behind. After carefully shoring the facade with a complex steel bracing system and clearing burned remains out of the site, the 31,000 SF, 5-story interior of the building was completely reconstructed.

Today, the property features a fully restored facade, 47 rental units plus 2 rooftop penthouses, and ground floor commercial space.

The excitement is building in the French Quarter as we bring another iconic New Orleans brand to their new home! #sneakpeek

Big thanks to Woodward Service Group and Woodward Design Group as they work hard to finish strong! #buildingteamsthatwork

The McDonnel Group is very excited for our next project in the downtown New Orleans area. This vacant building will be a beautiful conversion into a 6 story, 70, 000 square foot mixed use development. Stay tuned for progress photos.

Today It was announced that the Saints have selected OVG to sell the naming rights to the Superdome. OVG has some really big name brand partners like Amazon, Chase, UBS, Apple, Walmart, Carmax, Hulu, Jaguar and zoom just to name a few. Here is the article OVG seems to be very confidant in the Superdome getting a major national brand or international brand to place their name on the dome at a hefty price. I wonder if the deal can also bring some real jobs to the city with a naming rights and job package using some of the states business incentives. Imagine the "Apple Superdome" and apple brings tech jobs to the city along with naming rights of the dome. Apple could use the dome to host their Apple special Events where they showcase their new technologies and host major tech conferences also, Imagine concerts in the Apple Superdome, apple could make a killing marketing apple music in the dome while in national and international spotlight that comes to the city when hosting major events . If the city, state and saints do this right it can be huge. Look at Atlanta's situation, Mercedes-Benz moved their North American HQ to Georgia then Mercedes-Benz purchased the naming rights to the stadium in Atlanta.

Yeah, it won't be Apple. It's almost always some company with a local/regional tie. The problem is that Saints territory is basically Louisiana & Mississippi. Both states are unusually light on big (Fortune 1000) companies, and not every company wants or needs the publicity from a naming rights deal.

Even Mercedes-Benz was a weird fit that only happened because Benson pulled some strings - their assembly is in Falcons territory in Tuscaloosa.

I would love it if they got a liquor brand - Southern Comfort Superdome! - but the NFL won't approve it, they are weirdly conservative about this stuff and they don't want to turn off religious fans who are anti-booze.

Seems that Harrahs Casino will be rebranding as a Caesars along with its renovation plans. If I were the owners, definitely would do this. Caesars has better brand prestige than Harrahs does

Ha, I had blown past the word shelter and then was looking at the floor plans with bed after bed after bed and I'm like what is this? Fire Station, no, hospital, maybe but probably not. I was befuddled and was trying to find the purpose and finally after backing up enough, ahh.

lol its either that or a hostel from hell lol

In all seriousness though, hopefully the increased capacity reduces the amount of homeless on the streets.

Next big startup to keep an eye on is Ready (getready.com). They recently secured an additional 54 million dollars of Series C funding from Alphabet (parent company of Google). They are a telehealth/home visit healthcare company that was founded in 2016 and now has a valuation in excess of 350 million dollars. They currently occupy the second floor of 1320 Magazine (Framework building).

They join the likes of Lucid, Levelset, and Advano as locally grown success stories.
