I was going through some old photos on my computer and these are just some I overlooked or were cut from older threads. I ususally post 60 or 70 pics in a thread, but I'll often take up to 200 shots when I go out for a neighbourhood tour. So, I have many, many photos that have never been posted.

This building was occupied by a pub called Gallagher's last time I saw it.

I don't know if you have anything from the newer areas of the city. Maybe of the areas above the escarpment. So that people who live outside of the city can see the contrast between the older areas below the escarpment and the more recent development of the city above the escarpment. I am afraid that some people viewing the photo's may get the idea that the whole city is stuck in the 19th century. The areas represented in these photo's represent less than half of the urban area.

The older parts of the city are most interesting to me. For those interested, I did a few tours of newer areas, including a feature on
suburbia, another on
mid-century modernism, and one on
big box stores. I also did tours of
Ancaster,
Burlington,
Waterdown and
Stoney Creek that show a mix of old and new. But for the most part, Hamilton Mountain and other suburban areas are not that interesting for photo tours. They look very much like suburbs of any other North American city. Something that would be interesting is to start at downtown Hamilton and head east to Stoney Creek, the decade to decade changes from 1800s to the present are really apparent along that corridor.
