Rowhouses are great. There are some downsides to them, though. For someone like me, who loves sunlight and wants the house to be bright during the day (especially in Winter when sunlight is free energy), a house that is in the middle of the row can only have windows on 2 sides, and so the amount of sunlight that you can get is limited. I never lived in a rowhouse, but I have lived in duplexes (a set of 2 houses in a row), and even with 3 sides to get sunlight, you can be restricted a little bit.
Generally, though, I think that rowhouses are pretty nice and work very well in cities. Plus, they remind me of the Mid-Atlantic area, so a city with a lot of rowhouses feels more welcoming to me.
