A master plan by Goettsch Partners (GP) has been selected as the winning scheme in the design competition for a prominent site in the new Pazhou district in Guangzhou, China. The Pazhou Masterplan will consist of three urban parcels that form a triangular site, which is planned for seven buildings totaling 428,000 square meters. The client and developer is Poly Real Estate (Group) Co., Ltd., China’s leading state-owned real estate company.

In 2004 the Irish Rugby Football Union, the Football Association of Ireland and Irish Government combined with the stated purpose of creating a piece of world class sporting infrastructure that would do justice to Ireland’s international rugby and soccer teams and which would act as a financial engine to generate funding for the development of rugby and soccer in the country. After considering several sites, Lansdowne Road, the world’s oldest international rugby ground, was deemed the appropriate site for Ireland’s new international stadium for rugby and soccer.

Surrounded by the woods, the rectangular two-storey ‘block' is nested in a semi-transparent metal envelop as a "shield" that opens up to the external landscape with a wide portico that defines the main entrance. Between the mesh and the inner glass walls a semi-open shady circulation area is created as an extension of the landscape. Incise patterns inspired by the trees around the site, permit controlled daylight to diffuse into the central space and at night the oozing beams through the slits integrate with the wood at the background.
Im not too fond of that interior but the outside is pretty good.
I agree, the outside is really neat and could have carried over into funky varied can lighting or something like that, but the ceiling is just way to bland.
portuguese practice FVArquitectos expanded the R.T.P. television studio complex located in lisbon, portugal. the contemporary design provides continuity between a range of represented architectural eras with the addition of unornamented structures and a physical link to the existing studio spaces. the connection is revealed by the sloping terrain of the site while providing a usable rambling green space on its roof. this exterior courtyard gradually fuses the city's vegetated and urban areas to serve as an ideal gathering space for employees within the complex.

Tianjin has the dual distinction of being the 4th largest city in China as well as the port city of the capitol Beijing. Within the next two years a new highspeed intercity railway will connect Tianjin to Beijing reducing the commute from 2.5 to 1 hour. This is a critical link for this burgeoning satellite city.
In January 2006, de Architekten Cie. was invited by DHV to particapate in a competion for a comprehensive masterplan and architectural of the Tianjin central station.
gmp architekten: shanghai oriental sports center now complete
shanghai's 'oriental sports center' by hamburg-based studio gmp architekten, is now complete. the complex - opening tomorrow - will be inaugurated with the 14th FINA world swimming championships. constructed in under two and half years, the design is the result of an international competition held in 2008.
