SSP City-Name 2nd Round

Okay, here's the finalist!

We have 6 and I think that's fine.

Remember! You only get to vote once this time so choose wisely

Wow, tough choice... I don't like Imperia or Port Reunion (even though Reunion goes well because we all come together to work on it... but I feel like most would pronounce it ree-u-neeun instead of reh-uh-neeon)

But I like Lionsburgh.

Newport, for obvious reasons. It's a port and... well... new I guess (we're certainly not gonna have any highly-detailed intricate buildings with styles dating back to the 16th hundreds.

Opolis just sounds cool. And kinda evil!

And Sketchopolis sounds cool too. Plus we are making a city with sketchup. And It'd go well with the forum name and make it obvious for those who don't know what it is.

Why not ? Its not to hard doing buildings like that. The colonial buildings of that era are not very complex.

but you'd need to make more complex 18th and 19th century buildings so there arent just 16th century buildings, and then 20th and 21st century buildings.

Dont have a problem with that either...

I would love to see a mixture of different stiles and ages, not just modern buildings.

Yes imperia seems very Sifi but I like it. My vote goes to sketchopolis. Newport is also a nice name. Opioid is too general and unoriginal.

Well by 16th century I was thinking more of a baroque rather than colonial style.

We should keep the Historic District with 2 styles, 3 at the most. Neoclassical would work (and we're for sure gonna have a few buildings with this style), maybe even some Gothic Revival, but I think Art Deco would be best. It can be simple, it's definitely elegant and it'd be fun to see a historic district full of Art Deco buildings.

Of course we can do other styles, but we should have 2 main ones.

ANYWAYS! I'm going with Sketchopolis just because

BTW, whatever name we chose, the official thread will be names something like this:

(Name chosen) - A SSP City Project

PEOPOLIS (Greek)
PROPOLIS (Pro something, honey)
PEOPROPOLIS = People Pro Polices

Imperia is a very small italian ville in Côte D'azur with a kind small train station before reaching San Remo, Monaco direction.

I'll close the thread tomorrow night.

Just to clarify, we'll have 2 threads for this city. One will be a planning thread, where we'll discuss changes, post our buildings, and so on. The other will be a rendering showcase and comments only. It'll probably take a few days to start both thread but I think they'll be up before Monday.

.

Hope its newport....the city can have a port or had a port back in
the day....old ports or docklands are great for regeneration and as a
smug residential appartment area...as done in Dublin,Belfast,London etc.
and of course a smaller port can still be in operation..Newport could also
take cruiseliners, cargo etc...there are many options.
