I feel like both up close and from far away the glass doesn’t appear to have the intended effect shown in the renderings. I think the shape creates some very cool angles but the glass falls flat for me. From far off it looks like it’s all the same greenish blue hue and then up close it doesn’t look like the transitions are nuanced enough and makes the hue/tonal transitions look blocky and flat. From the renderings I got the impression that the glass transitions would lend itself to more of an optical illusion, especially when viewed from a distance.

I respect your opinion but just curious, have you seen Vista in person? Sometimes cameras can't really capture the real look...I think the glass is absolutely gorgeous, especially at twilight!

Yeah I went along the riverwalk and also checked it out from the park on the other side. I live in the city so I’ve obviously taken it in a bunch near and far. It looks more like a checker board effect to me up close. I think I was more surprised how flat it looked. The renderings have more of an undulating ripple quality to it.
When I saw it from Lincoln Park it looked like it was all more of a monolithic darker green and I couldn’t make out the transitions at all. It was closer to sunset but the sun was still out and maybe it’s the time of day. I don’t hate it but I found the renderings more exciting than what’s been delivered.

I find that to be the case most of the time. This building in the photos posted is very moody. Never seen it in person. I hope to see see a photo where the photographer has their back to the full sun and states that. That is when the color is likely to be least differentiated. ( I am assuming from my history with architecture and the sun.) The last pic posted^^^ is very nice. Great glass colors that blend with those red building the other poster hates.

It's all glass. That's what you get. A blob of glass.

The shape looks amazing in those pictures from the lake at sunset, where the color doesn't matter/can't be distinguished. Very cool. Other times, just a mass of glass. *opinion

^ I agree...it would of benefited from more of those black panel spanedrels or other elements to break up the glass blob effect..lol

Not a fan so far. A blob of glass describes it perfectly. It's almost cartoonish. I think I liked the initial design better the pinstripe glass and extra balconies. Not that my subjective opinion matters much in the grand scheme of things. Maybe I'm just being impatient for the final product and that will satisfy me.

This is the only angle that I really appreciate (thanks for the shot, Harry):

In the photos it looks like there is only on penthouse with the tall ceilings.

All of the concrete at the top looks like the mechanical areas.

I haven't been following to closely but is this toped off yet?

Or is there any height left on this one?

BTW I love the pic of the four rigged sailboat one and the pimp barge by Benobo.

^From this angle Chicago looks even better than usual, because NEMA and One Museum Park look so tall that they fill a gap in the skyline perfectly.

The building is moody. I see more color differentiation than others are saying they see. I am sure it looks very uniform much of the time. I love the form of the building however. A great addition the the skyline.

If the glass were totally smooth it would make all the difference IMO. But yea I think when it's fully clad we'll probably change our opinions. I'm glad I'm not the only one who's not totally in love with it, seems to be an unpopular opinion around here to admit that.
