PITTSBURGH: Glass, Steel, Water, and Red Dinosaurs!

Some shots I took last Friday while walking around with fellow SSPer Fishrose around downtown. Hope you enjoy!

Awesome glowrock. I love your "zoomed in" style. It's more interesting.

The 3 yellow bridges are referred to as the "3 sisters" built in the mid '20s.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Three_Sisters_(Pittsburgh)

I love this one. It reminds me of all the tiny little alleys I used to cut through when i went to school downtown. The tightness of our CBD is one of the intangible feelings you get that is often hard to translate to photos (although not in this case).

Love the density from that angle. Three PNC is such a nice looking building.
Also, that French bistro to the right, Palate Bistro is quite good. Check it out sometime if you like sampling different kinds of food. I met the owner at a downtown business function once. Nice guy.

Great tour. We're looking forward to lots of awesome threads from you.

Thanks for the kind words, guys! As for finding all of the dinosaurs around town, how about these two?

Palate has been closed for over a year. There are plans for a new restaurant concept in that space, but progress has been extremely slow.

Nice pics, glow.

No, and we weren't being terribly discreet. I did stop Glowrock from taking a picture right in front of the security station though... figured it wouldn't be worth the hassle

God, I hate those idiotic security guards...

"Uh, because of September 11, you cannot take pictures of the buildings..."

You know what, we were in New York taking pics left and right and nobody shoo'ed us away. Not to mention, 9-11 happened there!

Seriously, if they want to bring more people back to downtown, I mean even more people, people need to become less stupid.

Heh, a while back, a bunch of sticks in the mud were complaining about how people were running threw the fountains at the Plaza at PPG. Really? Why don't you do us all a favor and throw yourself in a fricking river! Luckily there's three of them from which to choose!

That rant aside, I loved the pics, especially of the clouds shrouding the top of US Steel Tower.

Yinz guys looked like you had a great deal of fun. Seeing threads like this make me wish I hadn't left...

Yes, Pittsburgh did the trendy installation art event that other cities had started; In 2003, in Pgh we did dinosaurs because of our Carnegie museums history of having one of the first and best collections of dinosaur varieties in the world.

http://www.carnegiemnh.org/online/dinomite/03May27.htm

There were 100 dinosaurs around the city. Many of them extremely impressive. It was an awesome time trying to spot them in all nooks and cranies.
