Yeah, I thought it was supposed to be brown/sand color. Are they doing the entire building like this? That would be a pretty major color change. Hard to know how it will look until they put it all together. Might end up loving it - not sure yet.

Newer renderings depict the color we're seeing now

Dug it out of: https://800fultonmarket.com/galleries -- there is renderings in there that show the redder color brick but also the more washed out brownish color original renderings showed. Didn't see a whole building rendering of the redder brick.

The light brown would look good in Austin, but not in Chicago, IMO. It should be red brick.

Red (or black) is always preferred, but I like the brown.

The pre-cast wraps around the (well insulated) collumns - big U shaped pieces.

Not a very thick layer of Brick - will be hard to tell once it is up.

Now that is impressive- They took the precast right up to the skip! An engineer somewhere thought this process through to the fullest!

Looks very nice. Does anyone know how precast concrete with some brick ages? I think we've all noticed how precast concrete will form cracks over time. I wonder if this happens to the brick in these types of cases? I'm going to assume no tuck pointing needs to be done in the future, but what do I know.

^I think in almost every situation, it has aged well... in fact, I think it is a crime to construct/design a high-rise with laid up brick at this point... that brick will always need tuckpointing in the future and the costs of maintaining a traditional brick (veneer) facade are outrageous...

Are we sure it's brick or is it just stamped and colored concrete? Is that a thing?

Looks to be the same stuff as on McDonalds HQ - and yes that is brick embedded in concrete - pretty hard to tell it's not the real thing.

Thanks for the info. I guess you don't experience more than a couple millimetres of traditionally laid brick anyway. Beauty really is skin deep in this case.

That is easy to say when you haven't spent 2 summers tuckpointing - the old time way with sledge and cold-chisel.

I guess the unfortunate damage at the edges shown in the above image is evidence that it's "real" brick veneer. I wonder how they will fix that. Maybe @harryc can help 'em out

They will just chip the damaged veneer section out and glue a new piece of veneer in with mortar or caulk.

I would have liked a slightly different hue to make it stand out more, honestly but still a nice addition with the height and bracing
