Thank you for sharing. I guess maybe they are moving A&W up to White Rose from Torbay Road.

Super 8 Closing

Heard on the radio yesterday morning that the Super 8 on Newfoundland drive is closing and converting to efficiency units. Would make sense given proximity to MUN and overall lack of housing in the city.

Couldn't find anything to support it online.

“Currently, we have a successful collaboration with Shopper's (Drug Mart) operating out of the bottom of our new building, which provides convenience for the community,” said Ladha.

“Looking ahead, our plans include introducing a residential property in the same area, creating a dynamic space that integrates living and retail.”

Ladha outlined some of the future plans for KMK Capital.

"Our vision for the future is to continue redefining commercial spaces, fostering vibrant communities in St. John's," he said. “We plan to carry out the ongoing work over the next 24 months, intending to have everything occupied in the next four years.”

Ladha added that this positions KMK Capital as a driving force in the city's evolution.

VOCM is reporting that City Council has approved the rezoning for the new development in the East End. I am assuming that the current housing situation will help this one survive? Maybe we will start seeing some height/density?

Just wait until it goes to a public hearing! I’m sure the people in attendance will be all for density but that this location just isn’t suitable because it impacts them.

With that said, I’m not sure how I feel about the stand alone parking garage. Not sure what options would be available to address parking though.
