^^I'm not surprised either, but the timing is totally weird. What other options do they have right now during a global pandemic??? Would be interested to hear what else the city is thinking for this beautiful building.

I know the uncertainly in the hospitality industry will linger, but I am glad Peebles did not get a hold of this building.
I would rather see this beautiful building fall into the hands of a more notable developer associated with the Kimpton or Marriott brands. Great track records for hotel conversions while maintaining the historic character.

This only issue with this building is its location, especially for a luxury hotel and now throw in Covid. But I hope this building finds a new life sooner than later.

Some great projects, 650 Fairmount is a total game changer for that area.

That's an absolutely awesome round of CDR submissions, one of the best of the year!

The 650 Fairmount project, in conjunction with 500 Spring Garden and the project at 8th and Spring Garden, will add so much foot traffic to the area. The 1324 W. Allegheny Avenue project was unexpected, but in the best kind of way. While I'm lamenting the loss of the two existing buildings, this new one will add some much-needed density to an area that could use it. Speaking of needed density, all of the projects slated to begin along N. American Street is exciting!

Also, since 3705 North Broad is going to the CDR, does this mean that the Beury Building renovation will begin soon?! Shift Capital owned both sites last time I checked. The area surrounding Broad and Erie (especially to the west of Broad) has so much potential, so I'm elated to see this project begin!

650 Fairmount Ave would be transformative. They need a lot of variances for density and commerical space, but I hope they get it because it's appropriate. The PDF really drives home how much urban renewal destroyed the urban fabric of the neighborhood. All we can hope is that PHA will follow suit and redevelop their plots into rowhomes with commercial mixed use corners.

I see that ISA is doing the design work for 600 Fairmount, but does it mention anywhere who the developer is?

I assume maybe it's PRDC which did the developments on both blocks east of here?

I was thinking same thing about Buery building. Its nice to see the project next door, but what about the main building? Its been stalled for years.

You sure about this? This project hasn't had any activity in at least a year. Most of the homes still have unsealed windows, there's insulation missing on several sides. I have a hard time imagining they aren't water damaged beyond repair and in need of significant remediation or reconstruction. Would love to see this resolved, but I've assumed for awhile that there must be some horrible litigation or financial woes going on behind the scenes.

This is phillyimby, which is less of a news site and a lot closer to a blog. They will often run a story incredibly prematurely, or based off of little to no information.

Just a quick update from the corner of Broad and Parrish!

The gas station at the SE corner has been fenced off, and it looks as though some digging/soil testing has occurred. As a reminder, this is slated to become a building containing 50 units, per Rising Real Estate:

http://www.rising.realestate/50-resi...-broad-street/

Just above the NW corner, this four-story building is currently on the rise:

Not to mention it really should just be renamed the Rowhouse Demolition Notice Blog.

Wow I hope this happens. I thought this thing was dead. Besides the now filled lot across from Pat's and Geno's, this was the most inexplicable empty lot South of Washington. I wonder if they're keeping the old design which was very sharp. I know a curb cut on 9th caused controversy (I think it should be on Washington as well).
