I really hope they finish cladding the rest of the building as the renders show. I think that will help to make it look better and not as cheap. And, I'm just wondering why it hasn't happened yet, especially not behind the brackets for the advertising screens.

I don'tknow what their future plans are. They did make the effort to have the structure prepared for towers. In my mind the project is incomplete with out them.

I hate this building as much as the next guy but we can’t just write this place off before opening even occurs. I’m actually pretty excited for this project.

I dont think the streetlevel materials seem cheap at all. Much of what I've seen in terms of the storefronts, facade (at streetlevel) and entrances looks pretty decent in my book. Much better than the finishes used on East Market.

Philly’s housing market is still booming, even as recession fears grow

https://www.inquirer.com/real-estate...-20190916.html

Quote:
Since the local housing recovery began in 2012, after almost five years of decline that started just before the Great Recession, the Philadelphia housing market has experienced a rise that is extraordinary for this historically gritty, underdog city. In the last seven years, Philadelphia home prices have risen nearly 46%, data from local economist Kevin Gillen show. Neighborhoods grappling with disinvestment have seen housing and retail sprout. Population has grown, income has jumped, and nearly 6,000 vacant units have vanished. “The city feels like it’s getting a face-lift,” said Mark Zandi, chief economist of Moody’s Analytics.

Crossing county lines, the Philadelphia suburbs have experienced growth, too — though not at nearly the same rate as the city. Housing prices in the suburbs have grown almost 21% in the last seven years, according to Gillen, though, recently, they have been rising faster than Philadelphia’s. Homes in the region now sit on the market for fewer than 60 days on average. And in the second quarter of 2019, 252 million-dollar homes were purchased in the suburbs — an all-time high.

Experts say this unprecedented growth has cemented housing as a crucial part of the local economy, adding jobs, investment, steady work, and more.

It's so nice to see this building all lit up at night! The area around 9th and Poplar is going to grow a lot taller in the coming years!

I noticed a "Starbucks Coming Spring 2020" sign on Market Street between 9th and 10th between that kids place and the Ulta today. 2 things.....I think it's a decent addition and two, they haven't figured out how the hell to get a Starbucks up and running (from raw space) in less than a couple months by now? Spring 2020?!

There was Starbucks in the lower level of the gallery around 10th Street prior to the rebuild so while I agree it's good, it's nothing new.

WHYY's article on the Fashion District.
https://whyy.org/articles/meet-fashi...tention-spans/
Includes more details on the signage: "PREIT will install 22,000 square feet of exterior screens, both static and digital.."
Also mentions "a tenant offering café seating on Market Street will be announced.."

Is Chickie's and Pete's accessible from the street level?

How does the Filbert Street side look?

EDIT: looks like it's going to be on the interior of the mall with Mall hours (closes at 8p every day...) - that stinks. Was hoping for more of a streetside/large sports bar presence but this may be a food court option slinging crab fries and chicken fingers like they do at the ball park?
