Okay. So, firstly. They are creating the holes for the elevator shaft & emergency stairs in each floor after the fact.

Now, I'm 100% certain there is an elevator smack dab in the middle on the right side.

I'm 90% confident on the left side - some sort of configuration like so for the elevator & emergency stairwell. My boxes aren't to perfect scale, but you get the idea!

But it is a very strange way of building the elevator shafts. There appears to be no containing walls getting built (unless they are bricking it up from the inside). Is it possible they could be going with glass enclosures similar to Burton Barr?

Now the hole is bigger. I'm actually pretty interested in how they go about doing the elevators. I'm no expert in high rise construction but this seems counter to what I would expect.

They normally pour the shaft concrete 1 or 2 floors above the floor that they are working on. This way they can have rebar anchor points for each floor as they do the concrete pour and connect to the shaft. So this one has thrown me for a loop. I am guessing more of an elaborate elevator design considering this is supposed to be a "high-class" development which is why I brought up possibly glass shafts.

I grabbed a quick pic from a different angle of the Block 23 construction since it's all pretty much topped. I have a love-hate relationship with this pic. I love it because it shows just how much density is being added to the area. Block 23 fills in the spot nicely between CityScape and Colliers Center. I hate it because it shows just how squatty the Skyline looks. I really wish we had some more height to Downtown. On a side note, I can't wait to see the Hines development pop up in this view. Should be just behind and to the right of Block 23.

Well, possibly that - or block/brick.

And as stated before - they like to keep the holes covered so that you know - people or items don't fall into them during construction.

Also not sure if anyone caught this, but the residential portion is officially to be called "the Ryan". Not sure I'm crazy about the name, but OK.

If we had a dense and vibrant downtown of all 10-20 story buildings I wouldnt care at all, having a cool skyline or tower is meaningless to how a city actually is.

OK. So let me rephrase my post. I wish we had less squatty buildings. If anything, the Link has shown us that we can have a building that looks taller than it actually is by giving it the right dimensions. The Palomar/CityScape Residences in my pic above just looks flat out squatty to me because it's too wide IMO. I think along with Link, Kenect, the Link phase 2 and maybe Central Station, we should start getting more proportionately sized towers in Downtown. Just my opinion. I don't like squatty.

^ The Berger project on Central & Adams should also have a nice/slim profile: https://kjzz.org/content/648285/phoe...ould-be-iconic

I'm hoping that the owner of the parking lot in your picture is getting the itch to sell. If I remember correctly he's pretty crazy... anyone know anything about a potential plan for that lot? Would be nice to see the Suns acquire it and integrate it into the arena renovation project...

There was a floated interest in putting a parking garage there sometime back.

Also the Barrister project (if it ever goes up) should be somewhat thin and tall at 32-35 floors.

Barrister will be a skyline changer for Southern Downtown if it gets built and will help break up the block-long look from CityScape. I hate waiting for development news more than squatty buildings...

I was amazed at the change in the east looking view from The Breakfast Club and that second floor area at Cityscape. Block 23 blocks out the view, making it more city-like. Kinda cool!!!!!!

LOL, just so ya'll didn't think I was losing my mind, this is what was on the cam at 9 am this morning:

They have since removed those additional floor assembly supporting structures from the top level. I knew I counted 17 floors correctly! I have no idea why they placed them there briefly. Too bad they weren't really adding an additional level or 2.
