That's a pretty informational page on rebar! Thanks for posting the link! As for Block 23, I have no idea what the future is for it. I know it was previously mentioned a couple of years ago that additional floors could be added after the initial build, so I just wanted to get an idea of how that is done...if it ever were. I do think you are right though. It doesn't look like it would be in this case.

Staying at the Palomar right now - one of the windows in my room looks right at Block 23. Starting to come together!

I took a stroll around Block 23 last night and I can't believe how large of an impact the residential section is making...and it still has 4 floors to go. It's making a nice urban canyon along 2nd St.

What floor are they up to on the residential side, and how much higher will it go?

On the 15th. Going to 17 floors. About as high as the elevator shaft is right now.

Excellent news! And I also would like to point out that the Taco Bell Cantina has been pretty busy every time I've walked by it. More restaurants to add for the area which is going to need it once the Block 23 residential fills up.

It looks like they still have most of the last floor to finish on the residential portion. Do they normally hold topping off events before the building is actually topped off or were they being optimistic?

Wishful thinking..... Let's say they decide a year from now to add more floors to the office side. Do they leave the crane inside or remove it and replace it later? I would think it is a waste to leave it, but I also have no clue how they replace it once the building is complete.

Kinda strange. I'm assuming this is for the office portion only. The residential portion is not topped yet.

The crane will be removed. If they add floors in the future, they will put up another tower crane outside of the building similar to how they added the residential floors to Palomar.

Anyone else think the office portion seems much bigger than the renderings? I was expecting it to be about the height of the brown building across Jefferson but it seems significantly taller.

The renderings always made it a bit taller than Palomar, but the perspective (something I've noticed a lot of in renderings lately) is just...off...which makes it look smaller than it really is. I think it's right around the 150' mark. The residential portion will be 232'.

It must be the perspective of the construction camera, but the office portion looks to be almost the same height as the residential. It doesn't seem like there's an 82' difference between them unless there's still a couple more floors to go on the apartment side.

I agree, the office does look just as tall from the construction cam, but that's a terrible perspective to judge height.

It's much taller than the office portion. Hard to tell when the construction cam is looking down on it from above.

I'm just not understanding the elevator situation in this building. When they remove the crane has that been built as an elevator shaft?

I brought that up a while back as I didn't see them building elevator shafts for the office portion. Someone mentioned they could be covering them up, but I don't recall seeing any rectangular openings left in the concrete when they were pouring any of the levels and I stare at these cams all day, lol. My guess is, the tower crane is in one possible elevator shaft (but would only fit about 1 car). But this building will need much more than that.

Edit: Looks like a small rectangular opening my be towards the left where the wooden temporary railing is. Looks a little narrow for elevators though. Also, looks like the residential portion may be topped by this weekend. Amazing how fast this went up after it seemed like the first 3 levels took like 6 months to complete.
