to create buildings floor by floor, you need to make a concrete floor plate. first make a floor plate the size you want it then raise it up about 0.3 meters. in the middle of the floor plate create a building "core" (draw a square) and raise this about 3.2 meters on top of the concrete floor plate. then draw squares or circles around the perimeter of the building for supports, and raise these 3.2 meters. put up your cladding, and add decks where you want them.

then when your done that, select everything, and multiply it, so you make a tower. once your done adding the floors, add some roof detail, and your done!

p.s. to multiply floors all at once, type in *then the number of floors you want to multiply right after you multiply the first floor.

Forgive me if this has been mentioned before. Is there a way to light up buildings in Kerkythea? I tried to make squares on my building that I did, and made a night scene, selected the materials to luminate, and all of a sudden, nothing.

Just wanted to know, I think Krases has done something in that sort.

Thanks.

Disregard the post about lighting tips, I should've post on the Kerkythea thread here.

My fault.

It looks/seems like cool beans to me. I just hope that it can be good to migrate most .skp projects and ruby plug-ins. Just keeping my finger's crossed.

just a sneak-peek of my current project! hopefully i'll finish this one

it's a 4 story house with an indoor garden with a bit of victorian style in there. the actual house will be modern though.

it'll include:
-gym
-4 beds (including guest)
-4 bath (maybe 5)
-a three car garage
-library
-2 offices
-an elevator
-emergency staircase
-2 atriums (1st and 2nd floor, foyer, and a third in the library but it's connected to the foyer)
-pool/spa
-many more things i hope to finish!

Hey Aleks nice indoors space!

Question, sorry if asked in the past mutiple times:
Does anyone else thinks SKUP 8 is a pain in the cushion? I like to be able to autointersect lines but I felt more comfortable with SKUP 6 (or 5?), any way to get it? Or might it be my puny hardware?

that's the first/second floor. it's an old brick building which is incorporated into the design. and maybe, i really like skyscrapers, especially ones with weird curves (a la hadid) but i don't have experience plus they look like they take a loooong time to model (with a diff, harder software than sketchup also).

i'm using 8 and so far it runs great on my computer. i have 3 gig ram, intel quad core 2, and a new graphics card (radeon 5670 1 gig). what about you? SU 6 was probably faster but i can't recall, but 8 has a lot of features which are probably worth it (except that i haven't been able to install vray).

Thanks. It's probably the 1g ram cellphone I'm using. I had some issues maneuvering the axis and then the long wait when I exceed polys. But I'm sketching again so, hooray!

I say you make the thread when you are making it. I like to see the progression in something. It's overall up to you to make the final choice.

yupp! that other part with the woman standing in mid air is a pool which might have a bar-with-seating area.

I'm having a hard time picking the colors. But I'll start a new thread and continue this convo over there (when i create that thread!).

hey guys,

i was wondering if somebody could help me with a problem.

for a uni project we need to pick a 400x400 meter section of a city and build models/ make urban plans about it.

ive tried to import the model of our section from the google earth 3d view into sketch up, but i couldnt figure out how to do it.

i now it works somehow, ive seen it before.

it would be very nice if someone could help...

thanks

Darf ich Fragen was du studierst ?

LG
