SALT LAKE CITY | 255 East 200 South | 375 FT | 31 FLOORS

Sorry for the lack of capitalization in the thread title. For some reason it won't let me post the title with capital letters. Can a mod fix this for me?

Anyway, this project officially went from rumor to reality yesterday. The developer has filed a preliminary lot consolidation with the city. No details or renderings yet but my guess is that we will see them soon.

What we know so far:

Developer: Convexity Properties

Architect: Solomon Cordwell Buenz

Height: 31 floors.

Tavernacle said they were closing early this summer, with demolition for the building set in August (I think).

Here is the site plans included in the filing.

Worth noting is that this project will replace this charming little commercial building with some longtime tenants, so emotions are mixed: https://www.google.com/maps/@40.7628...7i16384!8i8192

Building Salt Lake has the scoop on this tower, which they are calling the Worthington Tower (unofficial name). 31 stories and 335 ft.

Quote:
The tower that will replace the existing Broadway Place will be 31 stories tall. It will bring 359 residential units to the area on 26 of the 31 stories, leaving 5,800 square feet of space for ground-floor retail and 359 parking stalls on four stories above ground.

Building permit filed! No design review required because it's less than 375 ft on a D-1 corner.

I know some of you were concerned that Worthington Tower had been downsized. Well, Convexity Investment Management, LLC has filed a Commercial Building Permit with Salt Lake City this week for a "New 31 story residential tower."

Demolition permit filed! The last business at the site is having a closing party on July 31, so demo should be soon after.

Demolition is complete and site work is underway. This image is from a bit over week ago:

Alright alright alright! Also, based on the citizen portal entry for the project that has been updated as of 2/9, it looks like their building permit was probably issued!

EDIT: Photo from Reddit user u/HossTR showing the site (with 255 S State and Moda Luxe in the background)

Any artists out there want to give this building a drawing? It should probably be moved to U/C at some point, considering it looks like this right now!

Definitely stands out from the crowd.

Are there more towers planned for that area of the city?

Not right now. We've seen a major slowdown of new projects in the last year and 3-4 planned 100m+ towers have been delayed significantly (hopefully not canceled). Still lots of construction happening on the shorter stuff though.

With all of the zoning changes SLC has had recently and the state's strong economy and desirability, I would expect a bunch of new tower projects to materialize in the next cycle.

That said, the site directly across Broadway to the south of this tower is owned by Kensington Investment Company (Astra Tower developer) and has been rumored to be the future site of a tall tower.

Is this the "Worthington Tower" on the diagrams page? It's listed there as only 335'. Somebody should get that updated if this is really 375'.

The thread title is incorrect. The tower is 335 ft.

As for the name, we have taken to calling it the "Worthington" or "Convexity" tower because of the developers involved. I don't know if it has an official name other than the address.
