Given our urban zoning restrictions on height and suburban land use policies (i.e. towers in the burbs are a relatively new thing in Greater Montreal as opposed to Metro Van or GTA, and I think to date there are like... 1 or 2 25-30 storey towers in Laval and Longueuil) I think this is a reasonably impressive list.

I mean, I'm less familiar with Vancouver (though I understand that the municipality has similar zoning restrictions), but it seems as though Burnaby's list would outpace it as well.

Agreed that the output will continue so long as the global economy keeps rolling.

They've been clearing the site for the past week now at Lakeside Residences. Another proposal about to leave this thread for the U/C one.

For a city that had only two 200m+ towers since 1992, tripling that number in a five-year span is pretty impressive.

The suburban cities I've posted are all newcomers to the 150 metre club. A couple 200 metre towers and a half dozen over 150 metre is not an impressive comparison . Height limits are major factors however, it's not my interest to delve deeper into why some cities build more than others.. I'm certainly not judging Montreal on its number of skyscrapers. In fact, this boom in tall towers is unfortunate when it's the brand of mediocrity that has swept through other cities.

The Ottawa proposal just above is handsome if not otherwise bland. I agree that the scale is perfect but I find the upper stories to just not fit somehow.

Couple larger renderings of the Commercial Broadway development in Vancouver. This is long overdue for the second busiest transit station in the City, which is currently surrounded by underbuilt lots.

Tower facades look pretty promising
