It is a good idea for sure, but yeah, like pnapp1 said, the interior will be pressurized, so having that kind of thing wouldn't work. However, perhaps they could incorporate a closed in ledge-like box like they have done on the top of the Sears Tower, for extra-thrilling views at some point...Remember, the observation deck in 1wtc will be like three floors, so they could definately do that if they wanted....But I agree, outdoor would be so much better and thrilling, but probably isn't going to happen. Ah well.

Maybe a future Philippe Petit is in there and is learning all he can about the building so he can tightrope across buildings One and Two.

Yea does anyone know why the glass stopped? It seems like once one thing starts rising the other stops.

Quick question:

1. Is One World Trade Center considered to be "all glass"?

If the answer to the above question is yes, would it take the record for being North America's tallest all glass building from Wells Fargo Plaza in Houston?

It's not all glass. The base is concrete covered only with glass so no it isn't.

My guess is the workers in the tarp haven't finished working on those floors yet so the glass can't move up until the tarp is removed.

Actually It's because the building has a pattern, steel, concrete, then glass. So if one thing falls behind then what Evers next falls too. In this case the concrete seems it has fallen behind, which is slowing down the glass installation.

I find this to be stupid since normal cameras can do the job on protecting the ground. The money going to this could be used to fit anti aircraft guns on one of the towers to protect them.

World Trade Center to be kept safe using military-grade technology

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is secretly planning to deploy military-grade technology to keep the new World Trade Center safe from terrorism once it is completed.

The New York Post reported the high-tech system of thousands of "intelligent" cameras and computer processors can recognize people's faces and retinas and then compare that information with databases such as terrorist watch lists, sources said.

The plans show that the Port Authority is taking every precaution at the 9/11 site.

Security measures at the 6.5-hectare site - scheduled for a 2013 completion - include the sensitive cameras alongside infrared and heat sensors that can be outfitted with explosive and radiation detectors.

And agency brass also are authorizing "artificial intelligence" computers that constantly track the behavior of people on the ground - figuring out how to spot "unusual movements" that can be flagged for security personnel.

For example, cops could be dispatched if the computers detected someone deviating from the normal walkways or walking against the flow of pedestrians; jumping around or making erratic movements; or dropping a bag where people do not usually leave their luggage.

"What we're doing down there has never been done before," one agency official said.

The agency's system will be connected to the NYPD's Lower Manhattan Security Initiative, which has cameras and scanners spread around downtown.

The Defense Department contractor Behavioral Recognition Systems, based in Houston, will set up most of the system, which is expected to cost tens of millions of dollars.

I have some questions about the building's glass panelling....I watched Rebuilding Ground Zero and they said the inner core of the building is very solid concrete, and uses strong steel...Of course, the outer part of the tower will clearly be covered in glass panels. The old twin towers had some sort of aluminum cladding, with the windows spaced in between..How is the glass attached? Is this glass they are using all over the building pretty durable stuff? It seems that it might be more vulnerable to breakage than say aluminum cladding like on the old towers? Of course I am a total layman on such matters....Just wondering...

It's not stupid. Remember, twice people that hated what this country stood for attacked this site. Many precautions have to be set to prevent another 9/11 from happening. But yeah, your idea of anti aircraft guns are cool too. When someone hijacks a plane, you are pretty much screwed.

This sort of technology is necessary in order for the rebirth of the world trade center to succeed. I don't really like it, but it has its benefits.

Steel, concrete, then fireproofing, then glass

Carlos, This picture is great. Friday we had to have the PA call the FAA and Fox5 because helicopter was too close and bothering crane operators and iron workers during critical operations. Safety is paramount, any distraction can be a disaster.
