Thanks for the updates Paul. Glad to see the retail, but sorry to see it's at the bottom of a gigantic garage.

Developers plan 24-story Hilton hotel downtown

Quote:
Developers are proposing to tear down the Sullivan Building on Commerce Street and replace it with a 24-story Canopy by Hilton hotel.

The city Historic and Design Review Commission on Wednesday will decide whether to approve the hotel, which will include 197 rooms and will span 137,927 square feet, according to city documents.

In January of last year, the commission granted approval for an 18-story hotel on the property under the condition that the developer make changes to the design and come back for further approval.

The project would preserve the building at 155 East Commerce, known as the Dwyer Building and the Fishmarket Building.

This is a vision/study...not actual renderings (for those who may be skimming through SSP). I am one who hopes this will be close to the actual.

For reference, the tallest "proposed" building on the right seems to be about 200' - 220' tall (it is in the height neighborhood of the 217' Hilton Palacio del Rio across the street - as seen in other renderings).

SA to gain new downtown high-rise tower with mixed hotel, office, retail

Quote:
Another boutique hotel is slated for the downtown San Antonio site at the corner of East Commerce and North Main, but local REM Hospitality is giving it a twist by incorporating office space and retail into the mix.

The hotel development and property management company has closed on a 0.4-acre site north of the Cathedral of San Fernando and a block southwest to the future Frost tower. REM is moving quickly with plans for a new Choice Hotels International (NYSE:CHH) boutique hotel concept that will also include roughly 30,000 square feet of office and 8,000 square feet of retail space.

Let's not go overboard with this one. It's a Cambria. Not much to see here other than it is positive urban infill.

It's an 18-story hotel with office and retail, pretty noteworthy for Downtown SA.

Local developer planning 10-story upscale apartments on the River Walk

Quote:
Local developer Keller Henderson plans to demolish a row of buildings on East Commerce Street to build a 10-story upscale apartment building along the River Walk.

The Historic and Design Review Commission will vote Wednesday on the project, named "The Floodgate" after a nearby bridge and floodgate over the river. It will have seven floors of residential space and three of retail space, including restaurant space on the River Walk, according to HDRC documents.

Nice design.

The curved levels of windows near the top look a bit like an air traffic control tower (at least in the last rendering).

Weston Urban proposes cutting-edge, glass skyscaper for Frost Bank headquarters

Quote:
San Antonio developer Weston Urban will break ground this winter on its most ambitious project yet — a gleaming 23-story glass skyscraper amid a sea of concrete and stone buildings downtown that president Randy Smith says will redefine the city’s unremarkable skyline.

Designed by world-renowned architecture firm Pelli Clarke Pelli, the tower rises 400 feet high, culminating in a crown unlike anything else in San Antonio’s skyline.
The new Frost headquarters will be the first office tower built downtown since Weston Urban’s co-founder, local tech magnate Graham Weston, built the Weston Centre in 1989. It will increase the downtown supply of prestigious class A office space by 20 percent with 400,000 new square feet of offices.
