So are you saying this is why the building is not being constructed?

I can't say that I believe this. The construction site was going full tilt for a couple of months and then all of a sudden, it completely stopped.

It was noted by APM that the King Kar & East Coast Trucking, are priorities. They need to be completed in the early New Year. These were both delayed due to permit approval delays. Also, the John Yeo Dr. plaza is underway too, and that's not including the other projects they have going on. Yes, they do have a large shortage of workers. When will this project get started again? It will probably not happen until some of these are completed or when workers are freed up.
Note too, that there may be an IRAC appeal against this. The folk in the apartments behind this project were not at all happy with it going in there.

Question? Does anyone know what is going on here? Why the island? Is there going to be a left hand turn here? If there is a left hand turn here why wouldn't they have put in a left hand turn lane where this island is. My tip-off is the traffic light which has a left signal (not active yet). I'm at a loss why they wouldn't have put in a left turn lane if there is going to be one. Using the present lane will just tie up traffic!! ???

I noticed this morning that left turning arrows have been painted in the left lane. As you feared, the city did not install a dedicated left-turning lane onto this new road. What a mistake, the room was there for a dedicated turning lane.

The land is zoned TCC (Town Centre Commercial), so it’s likely not residential, or we would have likely heard about a public meeting to rezone the land. The apartments nearby, between this land and town hall, where the new apartments were built is zoned TCMU (Town Centre Mixed Use).

But like you, I’ve been wondering what’s going in there. No one seems to know.

Reactive Health and Harborside Engineering are the developers and they will occupy the second floor and lease out the ground floor.

15 Haviland St Project Site Prep Begins

Traffic Advisory: Boardwalk Closure

Posted on 10/29/2020

A section of the boardwalk that runs along the waterfront parallel to Haviland Street, adjacent to the Culinary Institute and the Armoury, will be closed to pedestrians during construction of a project at 15 Haviland Street. Those using the boardwalk will need to go around the site while exploratory excavation work related to a future building and the existing stormwater pipe is completed.

I see the trees are being removed.

NOTE: The permits from the Province and City are in place. The boardwalk will be reinstated.

Also, a special meeting took place with the developer and the residents of Renaissance Place, providing them with
winter parking on the developers property during site prep.

15 Haviland Site Prep

The area is fenced off and the alternate trail has been built. The trees will soon be taken out and exploratory excavation work and the existing stormwater pipe will continue.
