I agree. I hope the Alexander will be built soon. The developer said he was waiting for the economy to improve post-2008, and it definitely has. Now is a great time for a building like this.

Something else to note is that there are actually 3 empty building sites at the southern end of the brewery block. The Alexander site is one. Another is the Halkirk House site between Keith Hall and Benjamin Wier, and the third is on the corner of Hollis and Bishop where the small longshoremen building used to be.

There's also a big empty lot south of the Vic.

I've wondered about that. It's been that way for a pretty long time, covered in scaffolding and facade bracing.
