I came across the project in the last bit of this article: http://www.mainlinemedianews.com/new...47819176a.html

Also, Wednesday the planners had a lengthy discussion about plans for the former Fritz Lumberyard property on Lancaster Avenue, now called Fritz Town Center, in Berwyn. That plan calls for three mixed use buildings that would include 44 apartments, about 19,000-square-feet of retail space and a parking garage.

Several of the planning commissioners praised the plan but had questions about parking, loading areas and truck traffic, and a proposed pocket park at the rear of the site.

Malvern lawyer Sean McNeill said a parking study shows that there would be “more than adequate” parking and vehicles could also use a neighboring garage.

“We’re in a unique opportunity to share parking,” he said. And because the apartments will be mostly one bedroom, fewer parking spots will be needed than for larger units.
McNeill said Friday that he will be following up with township officials and the Board of Supervisors about the plan.
There is a facebook page for the development: https://www.facebook.com/FritzLumberyardDevelopment/

There's also this youtube video talking about the project: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5lEdApPN_4

ask and you shall receive - thanks! hopefully this will be successful and will encourage more transit-oriented stuff to pop up along this stretch of route 30.

Wilmington, Delaware Proposal Questions!

I know that a lot of you are probably going to laugh when I ask this, but is it safe to say that the 23 floor, Two Christina Centre project in Wilmington, Delaware is cancelled? I know that it has pretty much been dead lately, but most building websites say that this project is still proposed:

...and even if it was cancelled, what was the reason why, and when would we ever get another proposal like this?

Oh, and another thing. On emporis.com, there is listed that in 1990, a proposed 400 foot (25 floor) office skyscraper called "Star States Tower" was proposed in Wilmington, Delaware next to the Delaware trust building, but it never got built. Why? And does anyone else have a rendering. Here's the link to this: https://www.emporis.com/buildings/22...mington-de-usa

As cool (I guess) as the current projects here are, I really can't wait to see some skyscraper action here, and can name numerous downtown lots where one would fit perfectly, and I have even come up with designs for some on my own.

Sat in at a private meeting for the Cynwyd Heritage Trail, they are apparently sending out an RFP for an event hall of some kind at one end of the trail.

^There were serious talks - and renderings - in the early 2000's, to expand Delaware Stadium to 35,000 and go I-A. The football program had just won the national title, 2003, and KC Keeler was head coach - Keeler was getting interest from the biggest I-A schools. Attendance was over 20,000 for 12 straight seasons.

Then the program took a slide when Keeler was fired, had a falling out with the school administration. And then the new President, Harker--didn't seem to have much interest in the UD football program and the stadium was never upgraded. After Joe Flacco left for the NFL, the program really became mediocre. Multiple coaching changes, .500 records, and sadly, attendance is the lowest its been in decades.

Hopefully, this marks the beginning of a new era for Blue Hen football.

$750 million needed to bring the University of Delaware to 'the next level'

Big new campaign for UD ... also in the news:

"The campaign, called Delaware First, is hands-down the largest campaign in UD's history. The Campaign for Delaware, UD's first comprehensive fundraising effort, wrapped up in 2005 and netted about $431 million."

Revel suitor firm said to be under contract to buy land beside casino

Quote:
New York-based Keating & Associates LLC says it is under contract to buy a one-acre development site on the Atlantic City boardwalk beside the shuttered Revel casino, which it also wants to acquire.

The private equity firm has made a nonrefundable deposit toward an $8 million purchase of the vacant tract between Rhode Island and Metropolitan Avenues, to the Revel’s immediate east, chief strategist Alex Fredricks said in an email Tuesday.

The land’s current owner, Lazocean LP, previously planned for the site a 30-story, 124-unit condominium complex with a robot-operated parking system and 4,400 square feet of retail space, to be known as the Metropolitan at Revel Beach.

Keating said in a release that company officials would seek a zoning change for the site to enable heights of 40 to 50 stories so that more retail and restaurant space could be accommodated.

“We see such a bright future for this end of the boardwalk,” Keating co-chairman Jeffery Keating said in the release. “There are some really exciting days ahead, and we feel really blessed to be a part of the future of Atlantic City.”

Keating is closing in on its acquisition of the lot two months after announcing that it had offered $225 million to buy the vacant Revel — since rebranded as the Ten casino resort — next door from developer Glenn Straub of Wellington, Fla.

“We are working between our counsel and Mr. Straub’s to come to a conclusion on the Revel that we are still feverishly excited about,” he said. “The Metropolitan project will only enhance our position and objectives.”

U of D being a top tier research university level R-1 by Carnegie could easily support a M.D. program especially with a looming medical doctor shortage of 55,000 by the year 2025 . U of D has two great teaching hospitals nearby ie. Christiana and Nemours Childrens for the clinical training .I'm pretty sure the state of Delaware is dead last for Federal Dollars returning to state per capita . A Med. School of 3 to 4 hundred students could easily be supported . Maybe Uncle Joe Biden could help ?

I find it funny how people from PA/NJ call UD (U of D or UDel) but Delaware people, who grew up in Delaware, or attended the school -- simply refer to it as, "Delaware" or "UD".

Anyways, I stated this somewhere before, UD's endowment is bigger than basically every school in the area other than Penn/Princeton (which most don't realize). It is a "public ivy"--a beautiful campus (Georgian architecture galore), and with all the newer development going on, definitely raising its profile beyond the region.

1001-1011 Jefferson Street Update!

The 1001-1011 Jefferson Street sign rendering (the 510 ft. 35 floor tower) sign has been taken down. Another good sign that something will happen here soon since someone must have bought/leased the property. I just hope it's not going to be some low-rise apartment and it will be saved for a skyscraper, especially since this lot is in down-town surrounded by other skyscrapers.

I don't know about that. I don't see why the sign coming down is a sign (no pun intended) that it's coming up. If it were to be built, it would be 200 feet taller than any other building in Wilmington. We probably would have heard about that in some form. I hope it does happen, but I wouldn't be too optimistic about that.

I think he knows it's not gonna be built as a 500 footer, but is just hoping they get some decent height here rather than some sort of low- or midrise. Not a surety of a highrise happening either though but would be a positive if it did.

First off, I didn't say that the specific tower shown in the rendering was going to get built, because I just listed those details so people would know which lot I was talking about. I also say this is a good sign since someone will probably do something here since it was an available property up for grab. This also is a good sign because remember how a similar sign for Two Christina Center was proposed, and it sat there for a decade until Chase finally bought the lot. So what I'm saying is that this is a good sign that development on something here (hopefully a skyscraper) will happen soon!
