It'll always be called Gothic Arches. People still use stores that closed forty years ago as wayfinding.

Fair enough, I still think of the ServiceNB building in Fredericton as the old Zellers even though I have absolutely no memory of it being that.

$750,000.00 of federal funding announced for the Uptown UNBSJ MBA Program at 40 Charlotte Street. The building has been renovated to house classes and conference rooms for students to learn and engage with entrepreneurs and business leaders.

I could be wrong but I think the building largely sat vacant with a few offices.

160 Leinster Street Residential addition Update:

This project is really starting to take shape just down the street from the IOL HQ and future Gothic Arches project.

THE WELLINGTON
Construction date has once again been pushed back. They’re now aiming for fall of 2020. Their first target was sometime in 2018 so this is getting pretty frustrating. Some design changes have made like the placement of windows and they got rid of the red touch to the facade. I’m looking forward to this project as I think it’ll be a great addition to Union Street.

Definitely frustrating, but hopefully they will secure their funding soon and actually break ground this year. Hopefully The Telegraph won’t be delayed too.

Saint John Theatre Company is looking to begin phase 1 of renovating the exterior of the old county courthouse. New lightning and signage is apart of the project.

Good to hear this one's working its way through.

So all told we may have 3 significant new multi-unit builds on the Peninsula breaking ground this year - Gothic Arches (83 units), The Wellington (47 units) and The Telegraph (32 units). That's a total of 162 new residential units in these 3 projects alone. Great news for density in the Uptown area.

The proposed 83-unit apartment building planned for the Gothic Arches site passed final reading at tonight’s council meeting.

EDIT: Further note council approved $500,000 for engineering services for the refurbishment of the sea wall at Fundy Quay

They were digging out a foundation at 8:00 AM this morning with dump trucks lined up … they aren’t wasting any time
