FWIW, the Statesman quoted a UT Rep about the on campus residential project who stated it would be a "mid-rise".

I expect 1,000 bed dorm to pretty massive. I don't see anyway it's not a highrise according to the definition used on SSP (12 floors and/or 150 feet).

I certainly don't expect anything over 400 feet, though.

I know that the Drag side of Guad has a pretty low height maximum - is it the same on the UT side? With Duren being five floors and 588 beds it might be 10 for 1000 depending on how the floorplans are set up.

UT can build whatever they want on State land. The site has a large footprint, and there probably won't be any parking levels. 1K beds can easily fit in a "mid-rise". I'm guessing four beds per unit on average?

Has anyone else noticed the full-on (non-mobile), 150'+, luffing crane building a single family residence in Tarrytown (off Scenic Drive between River Rd. and Scenic Hills Dr.)?

Unfortunately, I was unable to snap a picture of it.

I was in Austin last weekend and I was surprised to see one building a home.

I noticed that too. Pretty unusual. Google did a recent drive by, and it's visible on Street View:

Those lots have steep grades and my guess is the design cantilevers the living space over an outdoor space below it toward the river (thus requiring steel beam construction).

Between the grade, the trees, and the powerlines right at the street, it seems like that may have been the only option anyway - especially if steel beams are involved. Expensive home construction, but it's Tarrytown, so...

And just like that it's been another 8 weeks. Here's the latest update. Thanks to everyone (especially Gillynova, Urbannizer, resansom, Mopacs, and many others) for the photo updates for reference.

I took 700 River off since it's been topped-out for awhile. Travis is now topped out and 415 Colorado is getting close. By next update I would imagine 415 and ATX Tower will be topped out, and Modern will be close. I still need to revise the Travis diagram, but I haven't had any time to devote to it.

Thanks, I love these updates. The Paseo looks like it got in 1 floor/week this time.

Reminds me of the old song: "these are the good old days" - I can't imagine that there will ever be another time when so much is being built or is coming to fruition all at the same time.

^ interesting take. I'm eager to see the peak from Waterline from all viewpoints of Austin. I try to picture it now but it will be a different beast for sure

I'm happy there are others out there as obsessed with skylines and skyscrapers as I am.
