I would like to see a nice wine store in the Exchange. A DeLuca's would be nice.

Indeed a beautiful shot. I like how both Artis as BigG mentioned and the one on St. Mary make it in the shot. The core is really on the uptick.

From what I've heard from some LGA people, there could be boutique liquor stores within two years. It'd be nice to actually have a place with liquor, wine and COLD beer all in the same building. What a novel idea.

Private, or public boutique liquor stores? I don't recall Pallister talking about any radical changes to liquor control during the campaign.

I agree it would be nice to have all products under one roof.

Pallister will cancel it. So don't worry about it.

Private. It has to all be organized by the LGA anyway, not directly by the government. Depending on how it's structured, it may just need a rubber stamp, if that at all.

And mix hopefully so I don't have to make 3 stops for liquor, cold beer, and club soda.

Club soda in cans only. Not a big seller out here.

Rumours of additional towers on the Truth North site..

This post originally showed in the Winnipeg Construction thread.

I believe GPP/ft3 are the current architects.
There's an old Free Press story that references the land around St.Mary's Cathedral.

Elements of True North Sports & Entertainment's proposed $400-million downtown development:

Land: Three separate parcels of land. One is 220 Carlton St., the former Carlton Inn site, owned by CentreVenture. The second is a surface-parking lot at 225 Carlton St., owned by Manitoba Public Insurance and optioned to True North partners since 2012. The third is a parcel to the west of St. Mary's Cathedral.

Graced by growth of the Parish, but challenged by an aging building stock, the Parish of Saint Mary’s Cathedral and the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Winnipeg launched into a redevelopment initiative of their Mother Church Site which they aptly named: “Building Faith, Building Hope”. In this first stage, a feasibility study was undertaken and confirmed that all of the spaces that the client wishes to investigate can comfortably be integrated onto their current site. The project consists of a podium base and 2 towers; a west tower and an east tower. The main floor of the podium houses the Parish Offices, the St. Mary’s Museum and cultural centre, music program spaces, a complimentary adoration chapel and some commercial spaces, while the upper floors house the Archdiocese offices, a large single tenant space as well as a complete conferencing/teaching center, including a large multipurpose hall. The east tower houses a number of residential units above, while the west tower is dedicated to providing rentable office space. The complex also includes 2 stories of underground parking.

What will be the effects from this? Pulling the Sutton Place towers out of the SHED.

Not just Sutton Place but also Glasshouse being removed from the SHED. Seems the direction city hall is trying to set is the downtown residential is going to be grouped into its own TIF.

New renderings posted on the website? Not sure if I've seen them before. There's a number of new images in the gallery. I thought the parkway feature extended over and onto the Church property. Maybe that's changed with the rumoured plans of towers going on that site as well??

^^^

We're a long, long, long way to completion at this rate.

The southside view from the street will be the best walking from Hargrave @ York.

^ The updated renderings are nice, but somehow that plaza looks a lot tighter than I remember it looking before. The buildings somehow look nicer too... I can't wait for the effect TNS will have on Graham by improving the continuity of the strip.

I agree that the SW corner looks different now... seems that plans have changed in that part.

I wonder when we get to see the Sutton Place renderings?

Well, you can see the Scotia Tower columns being formed, the shape of the building starting to show and some foundation walls are already stripped.

Columns are visible in the hole. The wall right at the NE corner. A lot of work done in the pit. Outer foundation wall is mostly completed. Things are moving.
