Prepping for Wanda or Propping Up Wacker???

Looks like the mystery items on site are big jacks for holding up the elevated portions of Wacker while work is completed. The only question in my mind is whether this is solely (much needed) maintenance or work that needs to be completed before Wanda can commence next year.

I'm going to guess some combination of both, it definitely needs to be done (there's major spawling going on in the concrete for example), but I doubt they are not taking into consideration the tower that is about to be built here.

I'll post some pics I took today momentarily.

The site activity in question:

Looks to be entirely work on the Wacker superstructure:

Construction trailers I mentioned a while ago in the Boom rundown. Thought they might be for GEMS, but they must be for this work:

Big hunks of steel which must be for repairing the viaduct:

Crickets chirping on the GEMS site:

With China and the Middle East going buck-nuts building all these tall buildings, would Wanda Vista even be in the top 50 tallest at the time of its anticipated completion?

Probably not, but hopefully Chicago will pull off something taller sooner or later. This plus the taller Wolf Point tower are still going to make a nice dent in the skyline though, plus whatever goes at the Spire site (hopefully).

2. Why does it matter?

Some people find it to be interesting. That's why Wikipedia and Emporis and other sources out there document height and establish comparative data. Height and comparisons are at times discussed on these skyscraper forums.

If anyone's interested, PM me with your email address and I'll send the facade narrative. It was released back in July for bidding purposes and is quite thorough and pretty damn interesting.

SOLD OUT
Hang on, wouldn't that be for the sales meeting, and not the tower itself?

I went to the presentation tonight for the Vista Residences.

150 Hotel Rooms

406 Condominiums

Public sales will begin October 1st.

They still want to break ground sometime Summer 2016 with delivery in 2020.

They should be going before plan commission October or November, but probably the former.

Jeanne Gang also told me that Solstice on the Park isn't dead. We could see movement on that one sometime in 2016 as well. It'll probably be apartments.

Here's a video of the video that played this evening...
