Wide West Virginia

Here are some wide-angle pictures from Jefferson County in West Virginia, the state's easternmost county. All of the pictures are of the state's beautiful Potomac and Shenandoah Valleys.

Looking up the Potomac River from west of Harpers Ferry. Maryland is on the other side.

The waters of the Shenandoah River on the right mix with the waters of the Potomac River on the left from "The Point", the piece of land in Harpers Ferry where the two rivers meet.

Looking down the Potomac River from Harpers Ferry at the bridge that carries the old Jefferson Pike, now U.S. Route 340, over the Potomac River and connects Washington County, Maryland, with Loudon County, Virginia.

The Shenandoah River empties into the Potomac River in the middle of this picture. On the left is a railaroad tunnel built in 1931.

The view of the Potomac River from Jefferson Rock in Harpers Ferry.

It's a beautiful state I'm proud to call a neighbor.

Thanks for sharing these! Beautiful country and you got an exceptionally clear non-hazy day for them.

Almost heaven, West Virginia. Blue ridge mountain, shenandoah river. Life is old there, older than the trees. Younger than the mountains, growing like a breeze.

I love WV!

Beautiful photos, splendid country. West Virginia has the most spectacular scenery in the Eastern US.

I've ridden through Harpers Ferry on Amtrak, but never visited there despite having been in the area on various trips. Your photos remind me of how much I need a return trip.
