Wow! Houston looks good now but will really be smoking by 2017 and who knows in a few years after that.

The building with the orange lights on top in the second picture is same building as the tallest building in the first picture.

Wow Houston really grew. And thats just one of the multiple skylines. 2020 will be an interesting year once all of the highrises are built. The residential and office boom is strong, and is changing the skyline for the better.

gee, that austin skyline hasn't changed at all!

i remember when the Bank of America Center was the tallest building in Austin back in 1981.

boise hasn't changed a ton, but here are two images from essentially the same spot.

Yep. That 1987 photo was also showing the three new high rises that had just finished construction that year. Two years before, three of those wouldn't have been there, and a 4th would have been halfway through construction. The remaining two, two hotels, are the Hyatt Regency from 1982, and the Radisson Plaza. The Radisson Plaza hotel was Austin's first waterfront high rise way back in 1965. The nearest high rises to it were 5 blocks away, and one of them is the black Bank of America Center. As you said, that building was our tallest in 1981. Today that building is our 17th tallest with at least 11 more that are proposed that will be taller than it is.

I love that old Houston Freeway pic. The lack of traffic and brand new road is stunning when compared to today.

Noirish LA thread has some awesome old freeway pics too.
