I don't know if it was ever a serious goal, but it was definitely tossed around as a possibility.

on 450 n LaSalle, did we figure out the deal with the little white building there that used to house English?

I thought it was going to be a demo but they clearly built around it

AFAIK the white building was always separated from the latest development plans and there were no plans to demo it. I think it may be landmarked in some way? (the facade is egyptian revival). IIRC there were plans pre-COVID to turn it into a dispensary.

This was answered earlier in this thread (I asked). It is landmarked.

Images showing new massing for 601 S. Dearborn are going around. Still FitzGerald. Not, IMHO, an improvement. Nor do I think Landmarks will think this belongs on Printing House Row.

can't tell too much from that, but at first glance it does appear to be a hospital in Ohio

Ugh..looks...not good. I hope Landmarks agrees. It does not belong anywhere.

I am just curious , what is the reason the streets are every halfblock there? Dearborn station? I always wondered about Plymouth and Federal streets and why the grid changes there.

I understood that when the streets were laid out, the plan was to make Dearborn similar to a boulevard, with the half-blocks between Dearborn and Plymouth and Dearborn and Federal landscaped parkways from Jackson to Dearborn Station. But, it just didn't happen.

As long as they’re not interior columns, and turn some poor office drone in a hurry into a bird.
