Barely any glazing on the side of the tower with the best views.

These energy regulations are horrendous. So not only do we have to live in small expensive apartments, but they've taken away one of the most popular features of apartment towers. And for what!? BC's energy is Co2-free anyway! The climate change commissars are out of control.

Electricity is not infinite, demand will go up, and isn't free.

In winter those places will be dark inside - 2 downsides - more electricty usage (tho' LED) for lighting, and depressingly dark for SAD sufferers.

At least the staggered windows match the staggered balconies.

And people are demonstrably willing to pay for it. The last thing we need are a bunch of joyless bureaucrats forcing us to live in dark cave-like homes in a city starved for sunlight 6 months of the year.

The architect is seemingly following the bare minimum daylight requirements.

Infrastructure has its capacity. With vehicles moving towards electrification we will need to expand infrastructure thats obviously comes at a super high costs. I think we need to be mindful about that.

I swear that joyless is part of the job description. You can also add soulless.

From Lawrence Black June 8th:

The balcony whose underside was painted shades of orange is now white like the others.
The rendering shows orange undersides near the top of the building.

Well that's turning out to be a pretty solid project. Thanks for the photos.

A bit schizophrenic mixing the light and dark schemes on the same facade.
I think it would have looked better if each facade would have had either light or dark scheme, not both.

will there be one large format retailer in there or is it all going to be smaller retailers?

It's looking alright.

It looks like there will be a liquor store on the corner of Marine and Chester. The rest of it is for lease. There is retail up above on the "plaza" that is for sale.

Agreed. This will make condos less appealing relative to SFH/lowrise, and will make curbing sprawl more of an uphill battle. I once considered upgrading to a terrace-level condo not too high up, but with the acceptable level of new densities looking more and more like Toronto, I'm am now looking to just build a small house in the Sea to Sky corridor. Mostly WFH driven, but also that it has gotten harder to find new condos with the comparable light, views and even architecture compared to 10-15 years ago at merely upper-mid-market levels.
