I walked past today and noticed a new hoarding being erected next to the former cafe space in Scotia Tower and there's also a lot of hoardings inside the Scotia Tower lobby, which appears to form a narrow (!) passage form front door to elevators.

I guess the construction to tie the two lobbies together is starting.

Reminder of what that'll look like (subject to any changes, as the bottom rendering below shows more interior space and less outdoor 'plaza'):

Remember the existing parkade already has an entrance on Seymour - no different, really.

Here's the ground floor plans from the DP application -

It'll actually remove the alley that currently exists between Vancouver Centre tower and the parkade
(which leads to the London Drug loading area)

The driveway shown above is really a replacement alley and the parkade entrance in off the alley and the replacement alley.

You can also see double escalators descending to the mall from the office lobby.

From this plan, you can see that only a part of the old food court was under the parkade (or more likely, under the old alley)
(now occupied by the fitness centre changerooms)

and a wider angle rendering:

Pic by me today -

Glass has been removed from the Scotia Tower lobby for lobby integration (presumably) and the black granite has been stripped from the corner marker.
... it's RotundaGate II

I wonder if they have plans for the London Drugs side of the complex (since that reno and the Scotia Tower lobby reno were matching). I remember when the Scotia Tower lobby was behind an open plaza (with planters) under the canopy flush with the angle of the facade.

Going from memory, the exterior reno burns out along Georgia. I don't think the Granville side is getting much attention, although they did upgrade the access to the second floor off Granville.

753 Seymour is taking forever before it starts to rise. They have been working on the podium for such a long time.

Thanks.

Looks like they've reached the office floors (all one level, no ramp).

By me today.

I think that's the regular floorplate forming a corner near Scotia Tower.

this and Scotia Tower go well together,

Thank you for the pictures. I think the new building being built will add style and density to that block, and more presence to that corner. Good to see how it's coming along.

I wonder if those columns and those bands of concrete are going to continue or if that was just for the parking lot levels? I assume there's some load distribution happening.

EDIT: I checked the floorplans and at level 06 it looks like they'll switch to smaller sized columns (and I assume no concrete band underneath)

May end up like the supports in the office podium at Sun Towers in Burnaby:
