Queens’ Future Tallest “Skyline Tower” Climbs Past Halfway Mark At 23-15 44th Drive, In Long Island City

Quote:
Skyline Tower, 23-15 44th Drive is rapidly rising toward its 778-foot-high roof parapet in Long Island City. Work has surpassed the halfway mark on the 67-story residential skyscraper, which will soon become the tallest building in New York City outside of Manhattan. Hill West Architects is the building’s designer, while Whitehall Interiors is in charge of the interior design. United Construction & Development Group, FSA Capital, and Risland US Holdings LLC are the developers and Modern Spaces is the exclusive marketing and sales agency for the 802 residences, which will range in prices from $500,000 to $4 million.

Recent photos show how clearly the Skyline Tower can be seen from across the East River.

The outside of the 1-million-square-foot building will be covered in 358,538 square feet of glass, the equivalent of over six football fields. Floors three through 37 will house studios, one-, and two-bedroom units. Floors 38 through 63 are going to have studios to three-bedroom homes. Levels 64 through 67 will include one- to four-bedrooms and the penthouses.

Fitness and wellness amenities will include a 75-foot-long, temperature controlled indoor swimming pool, a spa with his-and-her locker rooms, a sauna and steam room, a fitness center, massage room, private yoga and Pilates classes, aquatic fitness lessons, and group weight and cardio classes. Business support comes with messengers, couriers, and office organizing assistance. There will also be a pet care service that comes with a pet spa, dog walking and daycare, grooming, behavioral training, and veterinary house calls. Premium concierge services will come with move-in assistance, housekeeping, house office tech support, furniture assistance, in-home chefs and catering, in-home salon services, personal shopping, and travel and transportation planning assistance.

Rounding out the list of amenities are a children’s playroom, a laundry room, a third-floor common space with a business center, a landscaped outdoor terrace on the fifth floor, a secondary residential lounge with a demonstration kitchen, a private parking garage, storage units, a bicycle storage room that is capable of storing over 400 bicycles, and a doorman and concierge service.

Skyline Tower will be the first project in Queens to break the $1 billion price mark.

Completion is expected next year.

I took a long walk around the area south of Queens Plaza last weekend and it is turning into a really fascinating neighborhood with some great architecture and dining and drinking options. Really hope that the "coolness" factor begins to spread to the area to the north (Dutch Kills), which is still mostly warehouses and auto body shops.

I agree. I think thats the next hot spot for activity. A lot of those warehouses and auto repair shops are prime targets. Valuable land, right now, currently blight, but just like LIC use to be full of such blights, in time, it'll be snatched up.

Funny thing with LIC is that there is not enough supply to meet the demand. Even though the Amazon deal collapsed, even with that factor, the demand is extraordinary.

On a side note, that area is within proximity of Sunnyside Yards, which could be a mega development once all of the regulatory bs and environmental studies along with ownership transfers occur. But Sunnyside is long term. I just hope they maximize the potential of that area, and not make it one giant park with limited housing. Ideally, I'd love to see 50,000 units built on those yards over 15 years. Ideally. But we shall see.
