NCHW construction remains on schedule for fall 2021 occupancy despite coronavirus pandemic

Quote:
. . . . the construction of NCHW has been approved to proceed in order to stabilize and weather-proof the site . . . .

Also approved for continued construction, is Tangen Hall, Penn’s first hub for student entrepreneurship and innovation, located steps away from the NCHW construction site on the northeast corner of 40th and Sansom streets.

I ran by this yesterday. Holy cow does it have an impact from the Locust Walk, and on Walnut!

The paneling on the Locust side is... weird. Very 60s/70s wood shingling-esque.

If you have a photo file sharing account like Imgur or Flickr, you can insert your photo with the BBC code provided from the account. Good Luck.

1. You can post to Facebook (you can mark the post as private too so only you can see it), then "Copy Image Location" or "Copy Image Address". Then, click the "insert image" function which is the one that looks like a postcard with a stamp and mountains on it. Past the link to the image you copied in there, and submit the reply/post.

2. Upload to Flickr, "share" the photo from Flickr, and copy the BBCode URL. Pick the appropriate size your want before copying the URL, then post the URL in the test box here, and submit your reply/post.

Hope this helps! Looking forward to seeing your photo.

This building has very good height for the area; it doesn't look so tall from Locust Walk probably because it sits back a bit but on Walnut Street it seems we have developing canyon affect now.

Honestly, for an institution like Penn, this project doesn't look impressive or expensive. It's better than nothing, but the shingles are really unattractive to me in person when I've walked by. Especially compared to Morgan Hall at temple or Millennium Hall at drexel, this is just kinda boxy and boring

Agreed. This doesn't look much better than the Lincoln Square building at Broad & Washington.

I expect only top projects from Penn (plus they can afford it).

PREDICTION: this eventually will be renamed "Gutmann College House."

You heard it here first.

[For those who don't know, she's been nominated to be US Ambassador to Germany, meaning she'll be leaving Penn as soon she's confirmed by the Senate.]
