For all the reasons I've already said, when I finally decided to buy a camera after 25 years to capture the new Miami skyline the way I wanted, I had a pretty good idea of what I wanted to do with it. It was just a matter of whether I could bring what was in my head out into the real world as far as making the city look the way I wanted it to look and that I was not seeing in other photographs. I've succeeded in capturing every view, vista, and angle of this city I wanted except the ones where I would need somebody to drive. Some took no small measure of athleticism considering they were taken from a moving train or boat and timing was everything. Sometimes, it takes a lot of walking back and forth on bridges to get the vantage point or a lot of dancing around a skyscraper to capture its full beauty, power, and scale. Don't wear office clothes when you do this for sure. Gym attire is recommended.

You might think I've done this angle before, but the idea this time was to get the Santa Maria and Quantum in the same spread of the skyline.

I sneaked onto Miami Seaquarium property to get these, and the security guard who pulled up in the golf cart was nice enough to let me finish when he saw what I was doing, and I thanked him for it.

These I got from the marina right next to the Miami Marine Stadium, I squeezed through the driveway gate of the Miami Marine Stadium, but then got chased off by the security guard. If I hadn't been nice enough to advise him that he had a tire going flat, he might not have even noticed me.

I'm sorry, but I just couldn't get the angle of the skyline and the clouds right in this Hobie Island pic. You're going to have to wait until I'm rich enough to afford the trifocal sunglasses.

Thank you too! Not much more I can do until we get more skyline. The special project I'm working on that I mentioned earlier in the thread is a music video slide show of my urban/architectural photography work. It is coming together very nicely with the music I've selected. Right now, I'm working on obtaining the rights to use the music, but my the 80 some odd photos I'm using move well with the music in the order I have them arranged. Looks like I just might be able to help us get more skyline.

I can't believe how much and how so quickly Miami has grown. I'll be looking forward to seeing the musical slide show. I always enjoy the threads people post with optional youtube soundtrack. Having the music integrated right in with the photographs should be pretty kick-ass

Those of us who live here can't believe how much and how quickly it's grown. At the height of the building boom, we had skyscrapers topping out on almost a daily basis and more construction at one time than any other place in the world except Dubai. I intend to keep it going. I'm not kidding you! I believe I've selected a piece of music that captures the feel of the new Miami, it's architecture and it people, and I'm going to showcase it and present it to the world my way. The photos have been very carefully selected and arranged so that what is happening in each photograph matches the feel of that part of the music. I now have them all memorized in the proper order so that I can play the video in my head to the music. It works very well and it's hot! You just never know how something is going to go over with others, but I have confidence in what I'm doing.

This is one of the most thorough skyline collections I've seen. It reminds me of CSI Miami. Good work.

Thanks! And I just started doing this two months ago after not owning a camera in 25 years. All the photos were taken by me either from an ultralight, from the roof of the Bank of America tower, or from a boat out at sea.

New Atlantis loved your bay boat tour! You are making me homesick! I can smell the briny salt water air & warm breezes of Biscayne bay now!

With the scale and density of skyscrapers I was able to zoom in on in this pic, it is my favorite of the entire shoot, and MarinaBlue has now become my preferred place to live in the future for this view from this balcony.

I'm not quite sure what happened here in this pic, but it looks as though in shooting South Beach through the northeast window of this unit, I caught the reflection of the skyline from the south. The other similar South Beach pic is from another unit on the other side with a balcony that faces in that direction. I had dismissed the pic at first thinking they were just streaks in the window until closer inspection revealed what I had really captured. In this particular unit, this is as far north as you can see. The view of the I-95 interchange and up Biscayne Blvd are from other units and balconies. I've decided I want this particular unit on the 56th floor facing downtown and the Brickell Financial District. I just can't afford if right now.

My Last Day of Summer Fun!

I checked the Metrorail schedule and then went back to this vantage point at the appropriate time specifically to capture this piece of urbanity before heading down to Key Biscayne and the Cape Florida Lighthouse. This is the Metrorail heading into Brickell Station. It has been quite a summer for me taking pictures from a boat on the bay, the tops of two skyscrapers, an ultralight, and then the skyline from a lighthouse to top it all off.

People who live in the suburbs of Miami and haven't been into the city in a while have a hard time recognizing the place. That is how fast all this happened. I tell people if you haven't been into town in a while, get ready for a shock. The shot of the city from the top of the lighthouse at Cape Florida at the end of Key Biscayne was a shocker to me because I had no idea Downtown Miami and the Brickell Financial District looked that dense from there.

This is from the bridge that connects Virgnia Key with Key Biscayne.

Can you believe this plane is what I shot my aerial pics in and we took off in a rainstorm at that?
