PETERBOROUGH | Construction news and development

I figured Peterborough isn't North enough to be bunched in with that thread, yet there's enough development happening there now to justify something.

I'll start catching up on a few proposals.

First, a proposed 12 storey development on Crescent St from Ashburnham Realty.

New 100+ unit condo development to transform Peterborough waterfront

Bennett and his company, Ashburnham Realty, are sharing the details of a proposed 100-plus-unit building on Crescent Street, just south of Del Crary Park and the Art Gallery of Peterborough.

“It’s an apartment/condo building that will be something Peterborough’s never had before,” says Bennett.

The proposed 12-storey development is planned to have private residents and luxury rental suites in the style of townhomes, lofts, penthouses and more.

The townhouses are already complete:

Also from Ashburnham

Ashburnham Realty shares development plans with East City residents
Planned four-building development will bring 90-plus units and commercial tenants to mostly vacant land south of Hunter Street near Rotary Greenway Trail

Bennett’s plan for the properties marks another in a series of major East City residential developments. East of Ashburnham Drive in the shadow of the Peterborough Lift Lock, the Ashborough Village subdivision will see 700 units built — houses, townhouses and apartments — while East City Condos, a nine-storey building developed by Toronto-based TMV Group, is set to rise at the southwest corner of Hunter Street East and Armour Road.

Bennett’s development features a six-storey building fronting Hunter Street East east of the trail with a restaurant on the ground floor, commercial tenants on the second floor, and apartments on the upper floors. It is the largest of the four buildings planned.

Bennett is also developing property west of the trail, also fronting Hunter Street East, and a strip of land also on the trail’s east side that extends close to Robinson Street. In total, 90-plus units will be developed.

The affected addresses are 109, 115, 125 and 127 Hunter Street East, 367 Rogers Street, and 124 Robinson Street.

A recent update shows work on the foundations for phase 1:

Then this is the East City Condos, the aforementioned project by a different developer, TMV Group from Toronto:

East City Condos update from the developer. It's about halfway to full height!

I have to admit I'm loving how it seems like every small city in the province has at least a handful of urban condo and apartment projects happening in their downtowns. That was very much not the case even 5 years ago.

The first phase of the Railyard condos is nearly complete:

https://www.thepeterboroughexaminer....velopment.html

The nearly-complete building is phase one, a six-storey, 76,500 sq. ft. building, featuring a restaurant on the ground floor, with commercial tenants on the second floor. The remaining four upper-floors are a mix of one and two-bedroom apartment units, with 40 apartments in total.

The excavator in the photo above demo'd an old building to make way for phase two.

Big proposal for 211 Hunter Street from Skydevco, which has evolved a bit since it was first proposed years ago.

The applicant proposes construction of three apartment buildings ranging in height from 8 to 12 storeys. The total new building area is proposed to be 29,050 square metres. The applicant is proposing a mix of one and two-bedroom units for a total of 317 residential units. The applicant is also proposing to demolish of a portion of the existing commercial building located at 211 Hunter Street East. The development currently contemplates a combination of surface and underground parking spaces for a total of 529 parking spaces. The property is zoned for the proposed use.

Beautiful proposal for the old Baskin Robbins ice cream manufacturing site, almost the entire block surround by Aylmer, Hunter, Bethune and Simcoe from MacPherson Realty and Monkman Realty.

- Building ‘A’ is proposed to be an eight (8) storey building with commercial retail/office space on the ground floor and ninety (90) residential units on the remaining floors.
- Building ‘B’ is intended as a six (6) storey building with thirty-six (36) residential units and no commercial component.
- Building ‘C’ is proposed to be exclusively commercial office use.

A 2022 appeal to the OLT has not yet been resolved, subject to resolution at a June meeting.

A rezoning has been approved for 385 George St N in Peterborough to construct a 5-storey building with 56 homes.

Site:

Former building was this one next to CIBC. I haven't been by in months. Does anyone know if demo is complete already?

This former design was submitted for Site Plan Approval but was taken back to the drawing board:

This drawing demonstrates the current design, though there isn't a colour render public to accompany it yet:
