Perhaps the blow through core walls are that shade of blue to appear invisible with the blue sky behind it

To me, the preoccupation with the "blow through" opening may largely be because, in contrast to the other floors with venting, the opening is at the widest

part of the lines of the tower - instead of the narrowest. The glass shading emphasizes this and looks like the lady's (as it were) dress is too tight and her

bust-line belt has burst. Where she is most prominently wide and bright, her manipulated decoration of glass is least present.

She seems to be lacking an appropriate propriety. Perhaps she is a little too intoxicated (as it were). Her integrity is now seen as questionable by some.

It might have helped to have had some lighter shaded glass panels frame the corners and control the visual lines of the opening to look more

continuous and less blown out.

I apologize if this is a redundant observation.

I'm okay with the blow through floor. It's the mechanical floors that are totally botched. That black glass just doesn't work and cheapens the building when viewing from the south side of the building.

Not glass, screening. Would have looked better with glass though. Optima black. Not sure why they did it on the south but not the north of the building. Are those mechanical floors half floors with condos on the other half?

Don't mind me saying this, but I tend to think that you'll get used to it. Head over to the BMO thread and view a couple of the shots that have the wonderfully beautiful building, and somewhat ahead of its time, (built 1983) 300 South Riverside Plaza in the backdrop. The vents, smack dab in the middle of her backside, have become almost irrelevant, imo. Maybe that will be the case for Vista. Time will tell.

Wikipedia also says 1198 ft. Studio Gang's own website says 1196 ft, although the square footage seems incorrect, so who knows whether the height is also incorrect: https://studiogang.com/project/vista-tower

I really want to love this building, but the blow hole is shockingly jarring. It's so incongruous with the facade in general. Terrible, clumsy choice here. I'm still bewildered about how this happened.

^ The fact that the vents never made it into models cake/digital/otherwise are the biggest indicator to me they are a fuck up. The one panel on the west face is particularly aggravating.

Didn't see these posted here. A bit older, but I love the splash of color. God I want to drink from that lake. That's the real Poland Springs.

Vista goes well with the lake. The green Vista, with the smoke trail coming from it, in celebration of Chicago's going green campaign.

More red buildings would look cool. IDK the name of that red building below (might be the light, the dark reddish hue I'd imagine), but it looks good, breaks up all the white and black.

Great find, Chris.

Big Red, at 333 S Wabash, was known around here as the CNA Building until CNA moved to a new trophy tower in the loop. Big Red got a very expensive rehab thanks to their new anchor tenant, Northern Trust.

She does a fantastic job at breaking up the skyline with a splash of color.
