What I find crazy is that it's still going on in 2019!

Anyone old enough to remember when the old Palomino Club was Pierre's, or the Avenue? Or when the old, gritty Exchange was hopping with bars like the Marble Club and Brandy's?

Wow the rorie street marble club brings back memories

These are the days of MC Taco rapping away and Avon T playing electric guitar on channel 11....followed by the white dude with the fro and glasses who reviewed the latest Rock hits.

The Avenue (worked there briefly), yep. It was Blue Jeans before that IIRC.

Yep and prior to that it was The Waterfront Network. I think. Seems like such an awkward name now.

The Waterfront was the first bar I ever went to. Underage with nickle draft.....go with a buck and come home wasted with change.

^ I always wondered they used that staircase entrance for.

So I guess somewhere along the line they converted the space to a banquet room?

I dont really post because im not interested in spending energy rebutting "sjw slayers", the cop from nypd blue, and old white dudes who dont live in winnipeg anymore and just like to incesently bash it with their hot takes/empty critisism. If I posted here regularily, knowing me I'd get too worked up and can better focus that energy doing thing irl. It's a great place to get tidbits of info tho (even if one still has to navigate through the bi-monthly "winnipeg sub-forum yes/no" threads and "how sexy is biff" discussions )
thanks for fighting the good fight tho vid haha, your posts are always appreciated

Also I'm 30 yrs old, been checking out this forum since around 2005.

That was a fun spot. There was a great club in the basement of the Fort Garry Hotel too that always had live music. Can't remember the name though.

Bogarts was hot too, really hard to get in.

It was good after that point because I joined a Mixed Bowling Leage @ Uptown in 2006 and didn't have to worry about gagging on people's stinky cigarette smoke.
But by 2010 the Millennials replaced smoking with staring at their iPhones. That was the last year I bowled in a league.

It was pretty bad in the 90s, in terms of smoke in the bars/clubs. I believe the Government banned it in 2002, but many of the clubs installed heated outdoor sun rooms, so you would not have to leave the bar to smoke. I haven't been to too many clubs over the past 15 years in Manitoba, but I think they banned smoking in the outdoor patios/sun rooms.

When I came to Alberta in 2005, I was surprised to see smoking still legal everywhere, but that came to an end in 2007.
