Ah I see, yes that makes sense. I was unaware they were going to focus on residential for tower 2. Okay I am actually a lot happier here now. Thanks!

If it turns out that they're keeping Alberta in the "prairie region" office that they're moving here, this could actually be bigger news for Winnipeg than the development itself. If a major bank is moving its operations here, it shows we're not the only ones buying this "renaissance".

No way is Scotiabank moving their Alberta region office to Winnipeg. They'd be taking up the entire building if that were the case.

For the most part, Alberta is very similar to Sask and Man, in terms of the prairie designation. Terrain is very similar, save for the mountains on their west border.

It's just that the wording is weird, they didn't say they're creating a "prairie region" and putting it in TNS, they said they're "moving it" here. I suppose the question is where they're moving it from. We're already the centre for Man/Sask/NW Ontario. We'll just have to wait and see, either way it's good news.

it looks to me like True North & Sutton Place will be in competition with each other in selling condos.

Will True North sell the Carlton Inn property to Galliardi seeing as Sutton Place will be the developer/owner/operator of the building (one podium + 2 towers)?

I'm surprise that Richardson being now a 50% partner in the square project yet they'll allow it to still be called True North Square.

before the site went down they had a graphic showing all the different uses of the buildings and it had office/retail on the tower 2....I hope it is intended to be residential because that would be marginally more likely, but are we sure it is?

edit....from twitter...I missed the residential on the top in yellow.

big competition for fortress!

It's frankly impossible to tell from the rendering... usually mixed use buildings have a pretty stark divide where the floor heights change, but you really can't see that in the rendering of tower 2. It's a bit of a mystery.

The narrative seems to suggest that "boutique offices" (whatever that means) will be in the podium, though. So I guess that might be an indication that floor heights don't change because it's all residential?

And pegcityfan's right, interesting that Longboat and Northland will essentially be competing when it comes to condos. I wonder how that will work?

EDIT: nevermind, pegcityfan's posting above clearly shows how tower 2 only has a marginal mount of office space.

I would take tower 2 as having office and retail in the podium, tower on top is residential. I think I counted 21 floors above the podium.

^ It would be nice if tower 2 got some of its curve back... now it looks somewhat mismatched relative to tower 1. Still not bad on the whole, though, especially with the heavy glazing.

Not past the SharkClub, through the SharkClub. Look where the skywalk lines up with City Place.

That is likely the case though. There really is no where for the skywalk to connect into City Place. Shark club goes almost all the way to the north wall. there is an emergency exit stairwell there. Maybe they run the skywalk right along the north wall, minimizing the amount of work that needs to be done with Shark Club gaming lounge. Maybe there is a back room along the north edge of the casino that could be used for the skywalk, instead of renovating the couple year old Shark Club. I'm not sure. Still seems easier than connecting directly into MTS centre. That area is always such a mess during events, with the gate to the upper deck being inside the skywalk, above Graham Ave.

Just ditch the emergency stairwell. Nothing could possibly go wrong.
