Exclamation SSP Cityscape Competition: Stadium

This hasn't been done yet, and I'm too busy/lazy to put work into the city I did all summer, so I figured this would be pretty interesting.

I've always been intrigued by stadium architecture, and I always felt it was one of my stronger points as far as sketchup goes. So, lets see how this works out.

I don't want to put any dates up for entry/poll yet because I want to see how much interest this draws. If it gets enough I'll edit the post for all that good stuff (the entry dates and poll dates and any possible paramater/rules there may be for the competition).

Any takers? I'd love to see how this works out. If you've got any questions, please ask so we can make this happen.

that's what I meant by posting no parameters yet. I wanted to put this out there to see if I can generate some interest, but I don't plan on even posting any entry dates until voting ends for the current competition.

Trust me, I'm not trying to do two competitions at once either.

I'd be interested. Stadiums designing is always fun. The hard part is to not put too much detail into it or else the program will become sluggish.

This whole concept is a good idea. I'm in this time for the stadium comp. Can't say it'll be pretty, but I'll give it a shot.

i don't mean to bug or go offtopic, but did you have to edit my post? those guidelines should probably get their own thread with a sticky.

here's what I'm thinking for the guidelines of the stadium competition:

1. must be an outdoor sports stadium (soccer, football, baseball, cricket, rugby, lacrosse, etc - NOT quidditch ). no olympic stadiums - that would make for a good comp in the future though.
2. must be placed in a real city (such as an open lot or a field or what not on an aerial view) and be a realistic size (fields can be downloaded in the 3D whorehouse - that's where i got the football, baseball, and soccer fields for my stadiums (although i tend to edit them to make their shapes (in particular the baseball field) fit my stadium a little more)).
3. must be realistic - modern's okay obviously, but not something too futuristic that would either defy the laws of physics or just wouldn't be possible.

any takers?

I might be entering this one. (No guarantee though.) Rumo(u)r is that the owner of the Palm Dunes Marauders might move the team if a new football stadium isn't built in place of the current Palm Stadium (aka the Fruit Bowl*), built in 1982.

* Thanks to Mocholate

Why Thanks to Mo?

I'm definitely entering this comp. It's time I try a stadium. All we need is a deadline and we're on.

Oh, does it have to be a new stadium or can we make it old looking (say it's bases off stadiums during the 70's, 80's blah blah blah)? Would a coliseum count (like the Roman ones not new ones)?

If I build mine in Fairwinds then it's gonna be one that supports both American Football and Rugby - and soccer - since its an Anglo-American city.
haven't even started, I'm in depending on the deadline.

Are there any rules or is it simply to just model a stadium? Original of course, but is that it? When is the deadline?
