I used Google SketchUp to roughly show how Fiesta Mall has changed over the years:

After the mall section was demolished to turn Fiesta Mall into big box stores (current state):

Construction has started on the new Fortinos. The old one will stay open until construction of the new one is complete. After the new one is complete, the old one will be demolished.

The new Stoney Creek Fortinos is suppose to open this spring.

It's supposed to be getting the new store design:

So much nicer than the previous stucco design theme used on new stores:

And way nicer than the current Stoney Creek Fortinos:

I worked at one of the smaller Fortinos in my teens and early 20s (I was the token mangiacake ). So much has changed, but I agree the new storefront design is nicer.

Clearer site plan...

Something else is going in where the Winners is because Winners moved to Eastgate.

The building with the proposed label in the top right was already built, it's the new LCBO.

I recently asked a construction worker and it turns out that a new gym and dollar store will be placed in the two vacant units.

Thanks for the info, I was wondering what they'd be

Looks like the centre green unit will be something like a dollarama.

Which gym will be moving in? I hope it's goodlife as the one on barton is showing its age.

Hamilton Community News: Five more businesses coming to Fiesta Mall

By Laura Lennie | December 1, 2015

Fiesta Mall’s lineup is going to include five more businesses next year.

The 102 Hwy. 8 mall, which already has a Fortinos, Rexall Pharma Plus, Dollarama and Fit4Less gym, will see the opening of a Booster Juice, Pet Valu, Sport Clips Haircuts, Easy Financial and dental clinic next spring. The plaza property is owned by Choice Properties Real Estate Investment Trust, a development wing of Loblaw Companies Limited.

Choice Properties investor relations vice-president Kim Lee said Fiesta Mall has been undergoing redevelopment to better serve the community.

The mall’s anchor grocery store, Fortinos, saw the opening of a new and larger building last year, and the plaza also has a renovated Rexall, a new Dollarama and new Fit4Less, she said.

“This activity has helped to draw complementary retailers, such as Booster Juice, Pet Valu, Sport Clips, Easy Financial and a dental clinic,” Lee said.

Booster Juice, Pet Valu, Sport Clips and Easy Financial will be located in an 11,000-square-foot building being constructed at the mall. The dental clinic will be situated in a 5,000-square-foot building under development at the plaza. Both buildings front Highway 8. Work began in the early summer.

Lee said she can’t speak to the businesses’ employment plans, but expects their openings will bring jobs to the community.

Fiesta Mall’s redevelopment is about bringing more to the community, she said.

“It provides residents with an expanded revitalized neighbourhood retail plaza, where they can buy their groceries and find other everyday conveniences in a welcoming shopping environment,” Lee said.

thought the CIBC in the strip plaza to the east of Fiesta Mall was going to move into one of the new units. Instead it is "easy financial".

That CIBC sure is a dumpy location. Scotia, TD, RBC all have new stand alone buildings nearby while the BMO on Lake Ave is still a much better facility than the CIBC.

Here's an updated site plan:

source

The buildings that face Highway 8 were pushed out closer to the street, and the parking was hidden in behind.

Only the two buildings at the very top still have to be built.

Booster Juice is in unit 112. I think theres an Easy Financial and Great Clips in that strip as well. 107 is to be a dental office. Why does 108 say "proposed"? Isn't it already built as part of that strip.

Yeah, it is already built. This site plan was probably drawn up before construction started on that building last year.

Lipstick on a pig. Those front units should have been mixed use with a few extra floors on top dedicated as offices or apartments. Such a shame.

There is nothing really special here and this same plaza, with the same stuff, is in pretty much every town in Ontario but for a suburban development it looks okay.

The Hamilton City Centre should take a cue from that Rexall building, black and grey brick with a whole lot of windows would look great downtown.

Yes, what happened to Ontario's intensification requirements and density targets?
