Yeah I'm surprised someone actually believes that. What company would host a contest to design a supertall instead of going to a world class architectural design firm?

Any information on Westside Park opening? I know they said Spring 2020 and then came COVID; but this is October!

Next question: Is the remake of the Goat Farm into an art center just another Eviva or Opus II? Any fog lifters out there?

I drove by it last weekend thinking I might get to drive in at the construction / r other entrances. No success. It looked like the entrances were finished - even the landscaping was mostly done.

Yes i HOPE this project gets built ASAP. We been long over due for a Top Notch Trophy Tower in Atlanta. I say Hell YES let’s get’er done ✅ haha. And that New proposed Hotel next to the Mercedes Benz Stadium, get the Portman’s 3 tower project on 10th & spring up and going, the 8th st and West Peachtree st proposed tower, Opus, and the sls tower on crescent I think it was, that ugly apartment building on crescent that was supposed to be torn down and a tower was replacing it right down from south city kitchen. Let’s get All those up and going. Oh yeah and that Peachtree st and 12th st proposal. Across from Stk restaurant. That lot had a super tall proposal at one time. And across the street from there as well

That’s the most ridiculous proposal imaginable! It would involve buying probably 1000 individual homes from their owners which would be impossible. I live on one of the streets shown as water and the whole idea is crazy. It had to be some pipe dream because it was never mentioned to the neighborhood which is protected by historic designation. Not to mention the money involved in removing the existing infrastructure, the land is hilly and contains many governmental facilities, MLK middle school, Carver High, the Neighborhood School, major railroad tracks and several healthcare/retirement facilities. The idea was absolutely ABSURD!

No you didn’t settle for anything. 90% or more of that pic is not owned by GSU but by individual homeowners.

Interesting that they plan to use the old, existing parking deck. If they spruce it up a little bit, it could make a nice project that maintains a piece of the historic urban fabric.

Yes-- Potentially a very nice project Downtown in an area that needs some life. Keeping the historic deck -- which actually doesn't look like a parking deck is a great touch--

That 14th & spring Project should look nice on the connector and the midtown union as well. I hope the towers will have some lighting that stands out on the buildings that looks really good. Blue or red neon lights & or LED style

Union Tower
  • Name is a reference to Atlanta's old Union Station
  • Designed around a reconnected Broad St. (per MARTA's plans)
  • Consists of film sets, post-production offices, residential, and a grand theater
  • At 1,138 Ft. it would be the tallest building in Atlanta
  • Includes "cyclical elevator" for unique views of the city
