Chill out, this isn't finished yet. lol Don't worry, they're not going to spend a hundred million+ dollars and not finish the wall. Or maybe they're ok with moisture intrusion and will risk it? And this is far from our worst building. It gets people talking, but that doesn't make it the worst. It's the buildings everyone doesn't notice that are just there taking up space. I don't even mind that wall because it is so different. We've had too much of the same old same old, so I'm really glad this building was built. I might even end up liking it more than the Google Sail since that one so far is a little more bulky than I'd like.

What a weird building. I guess it's their way of trying to keep Austin weird.

Agreed - check it out here, right in the middle, just to the right/south of the Frost tower:

Stubby-looking, little, weird molar thing...

This has been discussed at nauseaum but for me the issue is the parking garage. I just don't see the point of that much parking when there is beyond plenty of parking in the immediate area. The only thing that I kinda like about it is how it is lit at night as I mentioned in an earlier post.

The top portion facing south as well as it's sides are not bad at all and the glass color which is a deeper richer color than much of what we have, combined with the orange tan wood-like panels sets it apart. Sure the north face isn't that great looking, but it could have been worse.

It's a shame modern zoning codes don't require parking levels to be built flat, with the car ramps internal somehow. I can't imagine it being very feasible to redevelop slanted floors into useable office or living space if/when we ever get rid of the need for massive parking podiums.

Yup it would be nice if that were the case. I think there are some buildings that have been designed to convert parking to other uses, not here but I thought there was a discussion about that in another thread.

It looks like the white we are seeing on the North side is just a protective covering over the final terracotta colored panels. You can see some of it starting to peel off.

I never really thought about it till now but the top half of this one will look similar to RiverSouth with the glass folds.

Yup. I looked up at one point while taking this pic and realized how little it actually looks like a molar now that it's 99% complete Not sure what it looks like, but a tooth ain't it.

EDIT: and tbh, it may not feel complete until it's up against the Former 5C building whenever it's built, and all of that blank-wall craziness is hidden from the world.

An old school tube tv on a tv stand... with a broken smushed in screen.

A musician friend of mine told me it reminds him of an old school microphone. I can see that.
