That Detroit tower looks like a mix between One Chicago Square and NEMA.

My thoughts exactly. As a lifelong Detroiter I'm in the clouds over it.

And to continue the off-topicness ... poor Philly. Possibly the worst collection of supertalls of any city...(Dallas: "Hold my beer")

i couldn't disagree with you more strongly.

philly's new towers make for a fantastic skyline, IMO.

Comcasts new bldg is God awful. And the one before that is a piece of...um...GLASS

Edit: I had to edit the original post above to remove the snipe about Jahns bldgs in Philly. Considering my distaste for all glass skyscapers, if I have to pick an architect to do it, I tap Jahn nine times out of 10.

Although I like the philly skyline, that comcast thing...woof. It looks like NBC tower got tag teamed by 6 different architects all wanting a different endgame.

^^^ that's a funny (and apt) way of putting it.

with respect to going too far off topic, here's a interesting read on glass skyscrapers

(article from archinet news - glass skyscrapers need to be seriously reexamined)

Pretty picture, but Comcast's buildings are not what's making a good skyline there.

Both Comcast towers are ugly, fat, and boxy IMO. The photo you posted is literally the only good angle of the newest one.

Forgive my ignorance, but how the hell does Comcast need TWO towers of that size?

I like how their skyline looks surrounded by trees.

They need lots of people to listen to you threaten to to stop their service until they give you a discount.

Taken yesterday. Busy site!

Edit: sorry for the low resolution. I took with my iPhone and didn't want the pic to be too grainy but I can make them bigger over the summer if people want more pics from this angle.

Yeah, I seem to be seeing more and more proposed or under-construction skyscrapers with these designs. They are starting to look like copycats, or at least "inspiring" each other.
