From a month ago or so. There is a lot of mid-rise density not shown in Mid-town

.

Nashville's Mid Town skyline this am........

Expect to see 14 story Virgin Hotel (under construction), the 22 Story Kennect (proposed), 16 story Moore Office Bldg. (proposed), and possible a couple of 30+ story buildings on the West End Summit site (speculated) in that picture.

I found this nice photograph of downtown Winston-Salem and looked for a good place to share it. This looks like a good place. The Art Deco AT&T Building and a residential tower are out-of-frame to the right.

Another interesting, but smaller, view with the Sauratown Mountains:

More Winston-Salem:

I think some of the best East views of the Winston-Salem skyline are from the apartment and condominium building rooftops:

Still, the best view of Winston-Salem's skyline is from the West, followed by the North and South views. You can see more of the buildings from the West. The worst view is the East view, since more of the buildings line-up behind each other and the tallest buildings are on the eastern end of downtown, creating a wall to block the view of other buildings.

West View: The skyline is partially blocked by Silver Ridge. You can see the streets with a steep grade. The ballpark is on the far right.

I literally cannot get over how small Raleigh's skyline is for the metro size.

I live in the Atlanta area and I really hope Raleigh gets the Amazon HQ2. Atlanta is too big, crowded, congested.

What percent of Raleigh's metro works in Research Triangle as opposed to downtown? Probably a lot, which might explain it. A similar phenomenon exists with Huntsville. Its skyline does not reflect the metro size, as most people work at NASA, the Arsenal, or the Research Park, all located to the West of downtown.

That definitely explains it. Although downtown Raleigh doesn't have much height, it's been getting good quality midrise development which has improved the pedestrian experience at the street level.

It's the exact same situation. In fact, Research Park is actually the largest office district in the state of Alabama by far with 11 million sq ft of office space. That's more than double the size of Downtown Birmingham or Inverness, both with 5 million sq ft of office space.
