No kidding. I was watching the news years ago (I think it was MSNBC) and they said they were broadcasting from Charlotte. I couldn't believe the skyline, i thought i was looking at Atlanta or Houston.

I created this for everyone. These are all the planned and under construction buildings inside and just outside the 277 loop.

Wow, that's pretty sweet! It's going to be pretty dense soon. Charlotte's skyline is so symmetrical and modern, like the Minneapolis or Denver of the Southeast.

I have always thought that the common view of Jacksonville's Northbank does not do the whole skyline justice.

Here are a few photos that I have taken of Jacksonville's skyline and one from MetroScenes.com which show the skyline in a much broader and more accurate sense.

charlotte's skyline definitely has height and is modern... but I was surprised flying in at how compact it was. transitions to low-rise / parking lots very quickly. looks like that's changing, though.

Here's a shot you should like. It's taken from the Beaver Street viaduct near the farmers market. Roughly a mile or two west of DT.

A look at the side of Jacksonville's skyline the postcards tend to miss. These pictures were taken from the top floor of the JEA Building back in 2011:

You know, as many times as I've been in Birmingham, I should have known that was it when I saw the Regions and Wells Fargo buildings. Hell, not only that, I don't think Huntsville has 2 buildings over 30 stories.
