Tell me about it. I don't want to get in a spire debate, but those spires do not even look like they are part of the structure. A cheap way to get two 1,000 footers.

Fantastic work as usual vpauzuolis!

Capitol Mall Towers in Sacramento are, sadly, no longer under construction.

Yep, it's time to bump the lineup with the Spire.

Keep bringing that good stuff, vp.

Thanks for keeping us up to date on the construction, appreciate it! (looks great)

It seems you've had to spend a great deal of time on the Freedom Tower.

BofA Tower and NY Times tower are shown to be way out of their league in this diagram... both nice towers (well, except for BofA's facade treatment) but not legitimate supertalls.

In my opinion, NYTT looks pretty graceful with its spire, though height-wise there is no doubt that it's a cheater.

When BofA was proposed it was always listed as 945' tall, the true height of the structure. They actually had a more signifigant "spire" but wasn't listed as part of the height. In the end we ended up with a 300' pole. The building would look better without it.

NYTT is the cheapest (heightwise) 1000 footer in US with one 300' pole on top and roof height a mere 746'.

I disagree. There was a time when the city was littered with spires that made the skyline, and that has been diminshed over the last 4 to 5 decades. History is repeating itself and spires are once again are making a statement in the skyline. I consider BofA the flagship.

Plus, this is my home city, and I want the building to be as tall as possible.

^^^ Right, but sticking a pole on top won't make it look tall. Its an 800-950 footer and New Yorkers should be proud of that, not the pole on top.

Perhaps us New Yorkers like the pole ontop. I do.
