Yes, it was complete rubble as of around 6 pm today. You can see that lot and Mirabella construction from the Union webcam if you zoom in:

Gonna be awesome to see those three rise together and change the Tempe skyline!

The Hayden (Hawaiian BBQ at 6th St./College) passed the City Council last night unanimously. 22 stories, 60 condos above 180 hotel rooms.

I just clicked on the webcam link and have not been following this thread at all, what's happening on the SEC University and Mill and why did the closed Chili's remain?

SEC of University and Mill is under construction for Mirabella, a 20 story retirement community associated with ASU. Mirabella is being built on the eastern half of the fenced in area. The western half of the fenced area is proposed for an Omni hotel and conference center. My understanding is that the western half is going to be used for staging for Mirabella, so Omni may not start until after Mirabella is done. Chili's will eventually be demoed, but not sure if they'll do it now, or when Omni actually is ready to be built.

That's good news. Any idea if we'll see progress similar to Westin any time soon? I guess I'm just unfamiliar with the steps between council approval and demolition.

What a great angle on that camera!

Seeing the asbestos buildings get demo'd made my week.

No idea. For context, I believe Westin finished through City Council in December, 2017. But even at the time of going before City Council, Westin was saying they were basically ready to go. I don't think I heard anything like that from the Hayden team. The good thing is that Tempe has moved to 12 month windows on entitlements, so short of getting an extension, they would have to apply for a building permit within 12 months of yesterday. So if something does happen, I would guess anywhere from 2 - 12 months from now.

Looks to be a very attractive building. Prices seem insanely expensive, but more power to them, doesn't seem like they're having any trouble "selling" them.
that is what the going rate for modern/highrise condos - I think it is pricy but cheaper than the other stuff in tempe on the lake for high rise

Its not too bad, i just am glad to see tempe growing

Not the biggest project, but The Block on Roosevelt is officially under construction. Nice to see some townhomes as opposed to more luxury apartments:

There was booth at the ULI conference last month with renderings of this project. They were talking about moving on it in the near future.

I'm guessing for the work crew if they start this thing in the summer. Does look funny though!

The Apache/Terrace Gilbane development is going before the DRC in April. Still no renderings that I've seen, but a couple more details from the agenda: 7 stories, 391 units.

The Collective is also starting its entitlement journey at the same meeting. Here's hoping all goes smoothly.
