That sucks. I had no idea it was going to do that. It was a gorgeous shot of the skyline at sunset!

If you save the photo to your pc and then upload the photo (using photobucket) you can post it as you saved it. Otherwise if you post the url the picture is constantly updating from the tower cams.

Of course by now you realize that..

I would love to see Sacramento's premier city photographer (ahem Mike) contact the city of Sacramento and West Sacramento, to arrange for the city (and all the buildings with ornamental lighting), to be illuminated one night a year, in order to be photographed for CVB or postcards whatever..

Cal EPA
Ziggurat
Robert Matsui Federal Courthouse
Meridian I
1201 K street
Wells Fargo
Esquire Building
Plaza Park Tower (aka U.S. Bank Tower)
621 Capitol Mall (aka the future U.S. Bank Tower)
and soon 500 Capitol Mall (aka Bank of the West Tower)

What a picture that would make.. A picture the city could use to market the city and downtown..

(Mike, Rob are you guys listening?)

Sacramento's nightime skyline will truly be one of the most striking of any California city (despite it's modest density and height)..

It's just a shame the state refuses to illuminate Cal EPA and the Ziggurat.

That is an awesome idea! Please help us with this, Rob! You must have SOME clout by now!

I was actually thinking about drafting a letter to Doris Matsui to see if she could get the Courthouse's lights turned on more frequently, if not every night. It would be a great tribute to her late husband and a treat for Sacramentans.

Good luck!

I've already tried that and the only response i got was her yearly or quarterly report from congress...

I even blew smoke up her @## and talked about the legacy of her husband, and how the Federal Courthouse illuminated at night was a fitting tribute.

She didn't bite. In fact nobody on her stafff wrote so much as a thank you for your idea or drop dead letter.

The reflection off the water is photo shopped. There has not been enough
water yet to open the spillway from the Sacramento River to fill the causeway.
This photo is taken from the levee road east of Davis before you drive on the Yolo Causeway.
Hopefully by February there will be enough rain to make this shot possible,
but even then, the buildings downtown would have to be twice as big to
get a reflection like this. If you look at the reflection you can see that ripple effect
is to consistent to be real plus: to get a reflection like this, downtown would have
to be right on the water when in reality it's about three miles away. The photographer
did a good job; I've been meaning to get out that way

As Mike said above, it was Photoshopped. The other give-away is the tower crane for 500 CM. Right now the river is a relatively small trickle from the dearth of rain to date (about to be inundated starting tonight...).

Thanks for clearing that up. I really don't see the point of creating a fake shot like that. You won't find this on my desktop.
